Remedy Entertainment, creators of Max Payne, Alan Wake, and Quantum Break, announced its new game Monday evening during the PlayStation E3 2018 press conference. Control is an action-adventure title starring Jesse, a supernatural agent recently promoted to the position of Director, who must defend New York from an invading otherworldly threat. Control is planned to launch in 2019 across PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The reveal trailer shows that Control takes place in a mysterious location known as The Oldest House. Jesse describes The Oldest House as "a shifting place" filled with rules and rituals, in which traversal is seen as "going deeper." While it's clear that The Oldest House is otherworldly, humans are shown within -- though something has gone quite wrong. Most living beings within the trailer appear otherworldly themselves, some with powers comparable to Jesse's own. None of them look like they have anything like Jesse's gun, though.

Little information has been made available about Control beyond what's been shown in the trailer, but what is confirmed is that Control will feature a wide selection of supernatural abilities and modifiable loadouts. Some examples in the trailer include Jesse's ability to float or fly, to throw objects in the environment, and to seemingly slow or reverse time. The player will need every available weapon and tool to deal with reactive, shifting environments of The Oldest House.

Prior to its announcement, Control was known by the codename Project 7. Project 7 was revealed as Remedy Entertainment's next project in partnership with 505 games, via contract information that was made available. As such, 505 Games will be publishing Control, a publisher best known for its work on Rocket League, Payday 2, and the Sniper Elite franchise.

An extended look at Control is planned to be revealed during the E3 Coliseum livestream on Thursday at 9:30 am PT.

Control releases in 2019 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
