Remedy Entertainment has a busy calendar ahead. Gamers can look forward to Control 2, which will continue Jesse Faden's story. Now that she is the director of the Federal Bureau of Control, she should have bigger challenges than ever to face. Alan Wake 2 is also in the works, and it is scheduled to release in 2023. In partnership with Rockstar, the studio will also release remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2.

All these titles should be good news for gamers who are interested in learning more about the Remedy Connected Universe. Control 2 should reveal more about how Alan Wake and Jesse Faden's worlds are connected. With Rockstar's blessing, Remedy may also have the chance to tie in Max Payne's world with the remakes.

Control 2

control game spinoff

Control was one of the first titles which strung together the Remedy Connected Universe. Inspired by the SCP Foundation, Control centers on Jesse Faden, who joins the Federal Bureau of Control as she hunts for clues explaining her brother's disappearance. As she explores the Oldest House, she discovers the sinister Hiss and butts heads with strange anomalies that test her abilities. By the end of the game, she becomes the director of the FBC, which is an incredibly hefty responsibility.

Control weaved connections between itself and the world of Alan Wake. This was primarily done through the AWE DLC, where Wake makes an appearance. While investigating the Bright Falls AWE, players learn that the Hiss incantation was originally written by Wake, establishing a dubious relationship between him and Control's antagonistic force. Naturally, this has left fans with many questions, like what his relationship with the Hiss is and what exactly Wake's endgame might be. The next Control game may answer these questions and also explain further the links between Jesse and Wake.

Remedy has announced that a Control sequel is on the way for PC and current-gen consoles. No details have been revealed regarding its plot, but the studio has let gamers know that the game is being developed on Remedy's proprietary Northlight engine. The Finnish studio's vision for the game stretches far beyond a sequel, however. There is also a multiplayer game in the works, codenamed Project Condor. The studio has yet to divulge much information about it except that it will be a 4-player co-op PvE title. Both the Control sequel and the multiplayer game could go a long way toward expanding the Remedy Connected Universe and explaining how all the titles tie together.

Alan Wake 2

Alan in Alan Wake

One of the central figures of the Remedy Connected Universe is Alan Wake. He was first introduced in 2010's Alan Wake, a game that has the superstar author traveling to the usually sleepy town of Bright Falls. Things go foul when a mysterious force known as the Dark Presence turns the townspeople murderous. The only way Wake can defend himself is by using his trusty flashlight to eliminate the darkness. Through Control, players learn that Cauldron Lake in Bright Falls is a Place of Power, and the Dark Presence has the ability to manifest people's imagination as reality.

Alan Wake 2 was announced in 2021, and it will be a survival horror game. It has the opportunity to reveal more about Wake, the Dark Presence, and the mysterious Thomas Zane, who has popped up in both Alan Wake and Control. Many unanswered questions could also be addressed. Fans are eager to know if Wake will ever successfully escape from the Dark Place.

With both Alan Wake 2 and Control 2 in development, the future looks bright for the Remedy Connected Universe. Fans could also see the universe fleshed out further with the Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes which are in development. The games are being developed alongside Rockstar Games, and just as Remedy did with the Alan Wake remake, a few key details could be slipped in to make the games get in on the Remedy Connected Universe.

Control 2 is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
