One of the main selling points of Project Spark is the ability to create pretty much anything that comes to mind. Those that are especially talented with the game's creation tools can cook up a wide variety of different video game experiences spanning countless genres.

However, many choose to pay homage to games that already exist as opposed to creating their own original adventures. Now the original adventure of iconic character Conker the Squirrel has been recreated in Project Spark.

It's already known that Conker is getting a new adventure in the form of the episodic Conker's Big Reunion, but this is something different. This new adventure is being developed by the same developers of Project Spark, Team Dakota.

In the meantime, Team Dakota has taken it upon themselves to pay tribute to Conker's roots by recreating the first 10 minutes of Conker's Bad Fur Day using the new Conker-themed creation tools, releasing later this month for public use as paid DLC. Team Dakota showed off their efforts through the Project Spark Twitch stream.

This recreation of Conker's Bad Fur Day is extremely loyal to the source, recreating the first 10 minutes of the game almost perfectly. Everything from Conker's drunken sway to the hilarious contextual button presses are present and accounted for within this Project Spark demonstration.

Being able to recreate a classic game such as Conker's Bad Fur Day is really impressive and shows just how versatile the creation tools are in Project Spark. That being said, Conker's Bad Fur Day already has a remake in the form of Conker: Live & Reloaded on the original Xbox, so what will be more interesting to see is if Conker's Big Reunion can live up to the legacy of its predecessors.

Conker's Bad Fur Day Recreated in Project Spark - Conker the Squirrel

Still, some fans have expressed disappointment that Conker is not starring in his own game separate from Project Spark. These complaints are certainly valid, but Conker's Big Reunion could be a risk-free way for Microsoft to test the waters for a potential full-fledged sequel down the road. Those that want to see more of Conker the Squirrel in the future should at least give this DLC a chance. After all, the latest trailer for Conker's Big Reunion reveals that the gameplay appears to be very faithful for the Nintendo 64 original.

In the meantime, it would be truly impressive if someone at Team Dakota or any of the talented Project Spark players remade the entirety of the original Conker's Bad Fur Day game. It would be even better if Microsoft simply re-released the original game Xbox One, or an uncensored version of Live & Reloaded would be suitable as well. Simply put, the world needs more Conker the Squirrel, in any form we can get.

In any case, fans of Rare have had a lot to be excited about lately. Not only is Conker the Squirrel finally returning to video gaming at the end of the month, but rumors indicate that there may be a Disney-produced animated Banjo-Kazooie film, plus the Battletoads are making an appearance in the Xbox version of Shovel Knight later this year.

The first episode Conker's Big Reunion will be available on April 23rd for PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One for $4.99. Additional content (including creation tools and extra game modes) can be purchased as a bundle along with the story content for $9.99. Conker's Big Reunion is being released as DLC through Project Spark, which is currently available as a free download.
