'Conduit 2' Trailer and Screens are Better, Bigger, and Bolder

Conduit 2 Trailer and Screens

When the Wii was first teased to the public, the idea of the Wii-mote combined with the nunchuck seemed like the recipe for a perfect FPS peripheral. Unfortunately, many of the FPS games subsequently released didn’t make good use of the Wii tech and ended up falling flat. One game that was able to set itself apart as an engaging Wii FPS was The Conduit. As an award-winning Wii exclusive, Conduit was sure to deliver a sequel. Now, we have your first look at the trailer and some screens from Conduit 2.

In the first game, hero Michael Ford was sent to Washington D.C. to stop the invasion of the Drudge by way of the eponymous Conduits. In Conduit 2 the stakes are much higher:

Picking up on the heels of its predecessor, Conduit 2 puts you on the embattled front lines of the war to save humanity from the alien onslaught. Travel to the far ends of the earth to put an end to the struggle. The enemy is everywhere and the deck is stacked -- trust no one. Turn the tide with the most powerful arsenal ever assembled, and bring the alien menace to its knees.

This time around developer High Voltage is attempting to up the ante with bigger, better, and bolder scenarios along with a more robust multiplayer offering that supports the new Headbanger Headset. Multiplayer on the Wii might not be the most streamlined experience, but there was a lot to enjoy from The Conduit.

While I didn’t expect much from The Conduit, after playing the game I found it to be a surprisingly fun and compelling shooter. It didn’t do much to revolutionize the genre nor did its graphics blow me away, but the simple, clean mechanics were enough to warrant a play through. If Conduit 2 starts with all that was great from the first game and takes it to the next level, it may well be worth picking up when it releases early next year.

Are there any fans of the first game that are looking forward to Conduit 2? Do you think that First Person Shooters can work on the Wii?

Conduit 2 releases February 2011 on the Wii.
