In the latest installment of his popular Clueless Gamer segment, late night talk show host Conan O'Brian sits down with Elijah Wood for a special early look of Final Fantasy 15.
With Final Fantasy 15 having finally gone gold after a decade of development, players everywhere are undoubtedly eager to get their hands on Square Enix's latest RPG. While there is still two weeks left to go before the official November 29 launch date, late night talk show host Conan O'Brien and his guest Elijah Wood managed to get a special early look at Final Fantasy 15 for his popular Clueless Gamer segment - and it wasn't quite what he expected.
Right away, Conan is questioning aspects of the game, particularly Final Fantasy 15's opening sequence which involves Noctis and hs friends pushing their broken down car and needing to embark on a series of quests to fix it. Upon entering the game's camping system, it was Wood's turn to be somewhat flabbergasted, mainly due the implausibility of how and where Noctis and his cohort managed to get all their camping gear (along with some potato chips from seemingly nowhere).
After skipping to a later section of the game, Conan and Wood were introduced to some Final Fantasy 15 chocobos, which only served to irritate the talk show host even more since that completely renders the car useless (in his opinion). The comedic factor was turned up a notch when Wood started battling an enormous Adamantoise, which caused Conan to get incredibly bored at the long duration of the battle. This boredom soon escalated to exasperation when it was revealed to Conan that the battle would take three real-life days to complete, resulting in quite a lot of comical screaming.
Given that Final Fantasy 15 has a reported 50-hour long campaign, it would take considerably more than the usual game-time allocated to normal Clueless Gamer segments, something that Conan alluded to by saying that this is the longest time he's ever spent playing a game.
Finally, and perhaps most humorously, Conan discovered that the whole gaming session was being monitored by the Final Fantasy 15 development team, and the host took almost no time to express his disappointment at the game, labeling everyone "murderers" for wasting his time. Of course, he immediately tried to patch things up by slipping in a quick "good job" at the very end of the segment.
While the game might not be to Conan's liking, Game Rant went hands-on with Final Fantasy 15 recently and came away incredibly impressed with everything, particularly the battle system. At the moment, the game is looking like it will live up to the hype as one of 2016's most anticipated games, something that we're sure Conan won't be too pleased about.
Final Fantasy 15 is scheduled for release on November 29 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
