Although the it finally got the axe back in 2015, Community has remained a beloved pop-culture fixation that was both a brilliant comedy and a convergence of a great many talented performers and writers. The show spawned quite a few iconic moments and catchy one-liners, one of the most famous being "six seasons and a movie," an in-universe meta joke, and eventually a real life rallying cry for fans of the show. While no plans have ever been officially detailed to make that movie a reality, one of the show's stars says it's not a question of if, but when.

Yvette Nicole Brown, who played Shirley for five seasons of the show, left before season 6 in order to take of her ailing father. Despite her slightly early departure, when asked by PopCulture if there were any plans, she was still enthusiastic about the idea of making a Community movie: "I've always joked and said that if we were going to do it, now would have been the time because everybody's free. If you're trying to get Donald Glover, you better get him during the pandemic. But that joke aside, 100% we're going to do it."

Of course, there are a lot of questions hanging in the air about what a Community movie would even be. Though most are likely familiar with the show's initial cast, the series went through many changes, as big names like Chevy Chase, Donald Glover, and Brown herself eventually moved on to other projects and priorities. While Donald Glover could potentially be coaxed back to the project for a brief reunion, Chevy Chase reportedly left the project on bad terms with NBC and showrunner Dan Harmon, and his character was canonically killed off as a result. Yvette Nicole Brown stated during the interview that she doesn't know of any cast members who wouldn't be willing to participate, stating "We all want to go back," but it is unclear which set of cast members she is referring to, and how many could actually make the time.

Brown isn't the only cast member to have commented on the possibility, with Alison Brie stating in the past that she would be interested in filming a movie based on the show as well. It is worth noting, however, that there are no official plans at the moment. Despite this, Brown insists that continued wait for any official production is due simply to a lack of opportunity, not motivation. "It's always been about scheduling and never desires. As soon as Dan writes it or one of the other great writers writes it, and we all can find a time on this calendar — where everybody can set aside a month to do it — 100% we would do it."
