After being announced at Bethesda's E3 Showcase in 2019, Commander Keen for iOS and Android appears to be cancelled with no mention of the game on the developer's official site as an upcoming game release.

Twitter user @Nitomatta, discovered that all prior association to the game on the ZeniMax Online Games website had been scrubbed. The game's official website, GoKeen.com no longer exists and now redirects to Bethesda.net with no mention of the game. Normally the game, along with other upcoming releases, would have a page dedicated to its eventual release with details of the game and any updates regarding development.

Commander Keen was part of a big push by Bethesda Softworks for mobile versions of its many IPs. The company had seen success with other franchises in Elder Scrolls: Blades and Fallout: Shelter, with the latter being ported to consoles and PC. Elder Scrolls: Blades has recently come out of early access and had also been released on the Nintendo Switch. After years of dormancy the announcement of a new take Commander Keen was met with very little fanfare. The games' focus on using cards to move and attack as well as turn based combat was a drastic departure from the side scrolling and platforming the series has been known for.

Bethesda was announced to be part of the Summer Games Fest being held this year. Though no date has been announced for the publishers involvement, it is the best chance for an announcement of a retooling of Commander Keen or perhaps it is simply been swept under the rug.
