Recently, Square Enix trademarked a 'Collection of Mana' in Japan, potentially signaling that a new compilation of classic Mana games might be released soon. However, at the time, there was no sign of this possible release coming to the West. Now, Square Enix appears to be amending that, as it has filed a trademark for the same Collection of Mana in Europe.

So far, the same trademark has not been extended to the United States. However, the timing of this trademark may very well mean that Square Enix has some plans to release news on whatever the Collection of Mana entails during E3 2019, which is rapidly approaching.

Notably, Square Enix also recently trademarked the terms Final Fantasy Adventure, Mystic Quest, and Secret of Mana in the U.S., Europe, and Canada. Final Fantasy Adventure and Mystic Quest are the westernized titles of the first Seiken Densetsu Gameboy game in the U.S. and Europe respectively, and Secret of Mana is the Westernized name of the second game of the Seiken Densetsu series. This may indicate that those two games, at the least, will be included in the collection.

Square Enix initially trademarked Collection of Mana in Japan back in February. While fans were initially intrigued by the idea, Square Enix still hasn't spilled the beans as to what exactly the trademark might encompass. Square Enix already released a Seiken Densetsu collection in Japan back in 2017 containing the first three games of the series, so it's theorized that this collection may be remakes of the games, especially since they've already dabbled in remakes with the Adventures of Mana and Secret of Mana Remake.

While the contents of the Collection of Mana are purely speculation at this point, fans of classic games may be hyped over the notion of this release, as the third game in the series - Seiken Densetsu 3 - never received an official release in the United States or Europe. Currently, the only way English-speakers can play it was via unofficial translations or in its original Japanese language format. Of course, since the series has spawned far more games past the original Super Nintendo and Gameboy titles, it's entirely possible that the collection could even contain later games.

For now, players can only keep a watchful eye to find out what exactly Square Enix has planned for the Secret of Mana series.

The Adventures of Mana is available for PS Vita, iOS and Android mobile devices.
