Since it has been three months since the last trailer for Code Vein was released, it may not be a surprise that a new trailer has recently emerged. In it, publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment highlights the visuals of the underworld, which fits the game's darker tones.

Moreover, the trailer has some powerful voiceovers. It states the main character is a Revenant, which is immortal, yet they have the chance of becoming one of the Lost. The Code Vein trailer even reveals that the Revenant were once human, which may not be a surprise, but is a potent image nevertheless. A character even states, “I can’t just let the world be destroyed before Mia wakes up, can I?” which highlights some of the game’s potential story components and its overall dystopian nature.

Visually, the trailer shows off more of its anime-style graphics and JRPG-styled gameplay. Also, it shows off many of the Revenant and Lost in conflict, highlighting the game's combat. However, the trailer does not focus on the weapons of the game, of which details can be seen in these screenshots. Furthermore, the surrounding area is not a surprising depiction of the underworld, but it does well in supporting the overall tones of the game. Check out the underworld trailer below:

One rumored feature absent from the trailer is the multiplayer feature. While we get a glimpse at buddies Jack Rutherford and Eva Roux, it does not address the rumored buddy system of multiplayer co-op. Considering this news is just a rumor, it may not even find itself in the game, but many gamers may have their fingers crossed that such a feature makes it into the final product.

Overall, Code Vein is looking beautiful, meeting its description of an anime-style Dark Souls. This underworld trailer clearly highlights these visuals, while also offering gamers a glimpse at characters and the story through the varied voiceovers. Set to release relatively soon, Code Vein could potentially be many gamer’s most anticipated game of next year, yet it remains to be seen if it lives up to the hype.

Code Vein is set to release sometime in early 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
