Update 9/26/19: Reviews indicate that it takes around 30 hours to beat Code Vein. Original story follows.

It has been over two years since Bandai Namco officially revealed Code Vein, and the release of this highly anticipated action RPG is just a few short days away. Since the game's announcement, fans have gotten a closer look at the title through screenshots, trailers, and even a Code Vein demo. While that material will certainly have helped some fans determine if they should buy Code Vein, others may be looking for one final detail before they make a decision about picking up the game: the Code Vein length.

How Long to Beat Code Vein

Back in 2018, a lengthy interview with Bandai Namco Community Specialist Dmitryi Khlynin revealed a number of details about Code Vein. These details were focused on things like the importance of the game's character creator, its class system, and its length. It is is this final piece of information that this guide looks to highlight.

Specifically, Khlynin indicates that the Code Vein main story takes 40+ hours to beat, and the game's side quests will allow players to spend even more time with the anime-styled RPG if they so choose. Indeed, fans that may have been concerned about a short length for Code Vein can rest assured that they will be able to put a significant number of hours into the game.

To provide some context, Code Vein has frequently been described as an "anime Dark Souls," and its length suggests that the adventure will be similar in size to what players have found in From Software's acclaimed trilogy. Data collecting website How Long to Beat indicates that the average completion time for the main story in Dark Souls is 46.5 hours, and Dark Souls 3 clocks in around 32 hours. While it remains to be seen if Code Vein has the depth offered by Souls, it at least has the length.

For those that are still on the fence about taking the plunge on Code Vein, a new promotion may just be enough to get them on board. Namely, a Code Vein Blood Bank promotion will give TwitchCon attendees a chance to win a free copy of the game by donating their blood. For those that cannot make it to the convention, though, answering the question of how long it takes to beat CV will have to be enough to inform their purchasing decisions.

Code Vein launches on September 27 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
