Its been a great year for Bandai Namco so far having already released Dragon Ball FighterZ and Dark Souls Remastered with Soul Calibur VI and Super Smash Bros Ultimate still on the way. One of the more intriguing games that Bandai Namco has revealed over the past year is Code Vein, a third-person action game that appears to be inspired by the Souls series. While marketing materials have indicated that the game would be arriving this year, fans will have to be a bit more patient as the game has slipped from its release window.

In a new press release, Vice President of Marketing for Bandai Namco Entertainment America, Eric Hartness, revealed that Code Vein has been delayed from its expected September 2018 release window into 2019. Details as to why the game was postponed are slim in the announcement, though the company mentions that the added time will be used to further refine gameplay elements to further exceed fan expectations.

What's interesting about the timing of this delay is that Bandai Namco only revealed the September 2018 release window last month at E3. Hands-on impressions from fans and critics at various shows over the past few months have been positive, no doubt putting pressure on the company to ultimately deliver an experience that exceeds expectations all the way through to the end. September is already a busy month with games like Spider-Man, Destiny 2: Forsaken, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider to name a few, so while the delay may not be ideal, it's likely a good call in the long run.

Along with the new release date, Code Vein's latest trailer also showed off a few story elements as well as what sort of powers players can utilize with their vampiric Revenant character after drinking blood. While featuring combat that harkens back to the SOuls games and even Bloodborne, Code Vein introduces a few new tricks with A.I. companions who can not only help the player but set up powerful combo style attacks. The action game also features multiplayer that allows multiple players to explore together or for solo players to ask others for help when needed.

Code Vein releases sometime in 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
