Cobra Kai, the beloved Netflix continuation of the Karate Kid franchise, has been an outstanding success for the streamer. Now, Netflix has released a trailer for the fourth season, promising more fights and rivalries as well as the return of The Karate Kid Part III antagonist Terry Silver.

Cobra Kai takes place three decades after the events of the first Karate Kid film. The series follows Johnny Lawrence as he rebuilds his life by restarting the Cobra Kai dojo, rekindling his rivalry with Karate Kid series protagonist Daniel LaRusso. Lawrence has led the students in the dojo to victory over the course of the series, and at the start of the fourth season, Lawrence and LaRusso have begun working together in training the students of the newly formed Eagle Fang Karate.

Cobra Kai season 4's trailer teased the return of Terry Silver, the Karate Kid Part III villain played by actor Thomas Ian Griffith, hinting at the reignition of the rivalry between Silver and LaRusso. The trailer also teases the 51st Karate Championship for martial artists under 18, which is assumedly the event where the season's conflicts will be settled. Terry Silver and John Kreese will evidently team up to take on Lawrence and LaRusso's students, suggesting the pair will present both main characters with their greatest challenge yet.

William Zabka and Ralph Macchio join Griffith, returning as Lawrence and LaRusso respectively. Xolo Maridueña, soon to play Blue Beetle for Warner Bros., also returns to the series, as does Martin Kove, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Peyton List, and many other series regulars. Series creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg all return as writers, directors, and producers. Season four boasts two new episode directors in Lin Oeding and Steven K. Tsuchida as well as two new episode writers, Bob Dearden and Mattea Greene. Their respective credits include work on notable television shows like Magnum P.I., Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and iZombie.

Upon the release of Cobra Kai season 3 last January, the show surpassed the acclaimed phenomenon Bridgerton to top the chart as the streamer's most-watched series. So, it is no surprise to fans of Netflix and Cobra Kai alike that a fourth season would be on the way

The Karate Kid franchise as a whole has been beloved for many years, and Cobra Kai is no exception to that. When it releases, the fourth season is sure to delight families and fans around the world as the narratives between Johnny Lawrence, Daniel LaRusso, Terry Silver, and the students of Cobra Kai all continue to unspool.

The fourth season of Cobra Kai will begin streaming on December 31st, 2021.
