Johnny Lawrence and Daniel Larusso continue to sort out their differences in Cobra Kai's new teaser ahead of the show’s season four premiere next week on New Year's Day. From the looks of it, their conflicting styles will make up some of Cobra Kai's funniest moments.

Towards the end of Cobra Kai season three, the Miyagi Do and the newly founded Eagle Fang Karate ended up joining forces after an unruly gang of Cobra Kai students inspired by John Kreese wrecked the Airbnb worthy Larusso home. This resulted in a very uncivil deal between the protagonists and Kreese to solve their differences at the All Valley Karate Tournament, just like mature grown ups with responsibilities would do.

However, getting ready to fight for the soul of the valley will demand a little soul searching from both Johnny and Daniel, as well as hardcore training. The latter will be the focus of episode one, as seen in a new Cobra Kai trailer. The clip promises tons of laughter once both schools come together at the old Miyagi lot, where Johnny’s borderline abusive teaching philosophy still leaves room for him to point out why in gods’ name there’s a giant rock in the middle of a training dojo.

The clip is accompanied by some of Johnny’s favorite hard-rocking tunes, in this case Judas Priest's “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming.” The tune is heard as he turns Mr. Miyagi's good old “Wax on wax off” mantra into his personal car wash. Although much shorter than Cobra Kai's full-length trailer for this new season, it does bring a lighter side to it.

After all, season 4's big villains will be John Kreese and Terry Silver, whose Cobra Kai takeover poses an obvious threat to society as they continue to taunt their former students. Cobra Kai's fourth season will be ten episodes long just like each one before it, meaning there will be plenty of time for fun and games, as well as continuing to explore the relationships between this convoluted love square featuring Miguel, Sam, Robby, and Tory.

So far Cobra Kai has always delivered great success for Netflix after the streaming service allowed new viewers to become familiar with the - at times absurd - Karate Kid spinoff. Still, it seems season four will retain every bit of the charm that’s made it such a hit, only now adding some red gi swag and a couple of slighlty deranged senseis into the mix.

Cobra Kai season 4 will be released on December 31, 2021, on Netflix.
