Club Nintendo Gifts Platinum Gold

Summer is officially here and what better way to celebrate it than with gifts from Nintendo — all of which will keep you indoors. The annual Club Nintendo gifts are currently being offered to members who have registered their Nintendo products all year. Kudos, brand loyalists!

Past years as seen some pretty fantastic gifts, like the coveted Super Mario Characters Figurine. However, this year, like the last, they're giving members a lot more options. Platinum members can enjoy a Three-Poster Set, which features Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, and retro Luigi - it is 'The Year of Luigi' after all. Platinum members may also choose a Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Original Soundtrack or any of the Gold status rewards, including the original Super Smash Bros. for the Wii Virtual Console.

Is anybody else sensing a cross-promotional theme here? Especially since the next entries in the Super Smash Brosfranchise and a Wind Waker hi-def remastering are currently in development. Be sure to check out the full list of rewards on their official page for even more classic games.

In many ways members should feel a sense of pride for having actually worked to get these gifts. It wasn't all fun and games, you know - well, alright, it actually was all fun and games, but also surveys. Countless surveys. But dedicated Nintendo fans can catch a glimpse of the Platinum awards below sans survey.

For those of you completely in the dark, Club Nintendo is a service that provides incentives for purchasing officially licensed Nintendo games and hardware, which includes everything from consoles to downloadable games. Registering said products will earn members coins. Get enough of those and members can reach certain milestones, such as the Gold or Platinum status mentioned above. The higher the status, the more rare and exclusive gifts members can receive. Nintendo just asks that members give a little back by rating their product and answering a bunch of questions before getting their coins.

Throughout the year members may spend their coins on games and other products at no additional charge — they even get free shipping. Those who reach Gold or Platinum status in the allotted time are eligible for one of the nifty prizes listed above. Easy peasy. Now it's time to nerd up our walls with some posters. See you in the club!

So, readers, what do you think of the prizes this year? Everything you hoped for and more or was it pretty underwhelming? Sound off in the comments.
