Just over one month ago, FaZe Clan, an eSports organization that competes across a number of different games, made headlines when team member Turner "Tfue" Tenny sued FaZe over what he believed to be an unlawful and restrictive contract. Indeed, there is indication that this contract saw FaZe taking up to 80% of Tenny's earnings, and it appears that Dennis "Cloakzy" Lepore, FaZe's Fortnite team captain, is now looking to separate himself from the organization as well, perhaps as a result of a similar contractual arrangement.

On Saturday, a tweet from the FaZe Clan news account indicated that the organization and Lepore are "in agreement to work towards his future departure from the team." Thereafter, Lepore offered more details on the situation, via a stream on Twitch, stating that he has been "trying to leave for the past six months" but has not been able to come to terms with FaZe Clan. Lepore further suggested that FaZe may be more amenable to his departure now that he has failed to qualify for the Fortnite World Cup.

With respect to why Lepore has been looking to sever ties with the organization, this was not explicitly stated by the Fortnite pro, but there is indication that he may have a contract comparable to the one that is fueling Tenny's lawsuit against FaZe. More specifically, when asked about his agreement with the eSports organization, Lepore said "you guys saw the contract," a statement that suggests that his arrangement is in line with the previously leaked contract between Tenny and FaZe.

Additionally, Lepore has addressed another aspect of the FaZe tweet, which stated that the organization would be "open to transfer proposals from other organizations as [it explores its] options moving forward." Indeed, Lepore seemed confused to see this included in FaZe's statement, saying that he is not looking to be transferred.

Disputes over the terms of contracts are not the only reason that this eSports organization has been in the news as of late, as Tenny's lawsuit further indicated that FaZe signed an underage player to contract. Time will tell if FaZe is able to suitably address the issues that are currently coming to light about its practices, but, even if it is able to do so, it now seems that Lepore will not be present to see that take place.
