The original Xbox was a controversial piece of gaming equipment to say the least. While some found it to be a beast of a machine, others found that it was buggy with a short shelf life. Regardless of your experience with the console, you can't deny that it had some great exclusive titles. Some brought genres to new heights and others left a nostalgic mark in our memories, but the Xbox will always have a place in our hearts.

But, with the new generation of consoles creeping up on us, does that mean these titles deserve remakes? Which should be remade and which should just be left alone in the nostalgic dust? Let's find out.

10 Should Not Be Remade: America's Army: Rise Of A Soldier

America's Army: Rise of a Soldier was an experiment to give the player a true innovative FPS experience. The result was boring; really, really boring. This actually isn't just about America's Army, this is about the majority of first-person shooter games - just don't remake them. There's no need to because the genre is changing every year.

The first Call of Duty was a great game back in the day, but if you compared it to Call of Duty today? It wouldn't even be able to hold a candle. Even Halo, which is still a great game, even by today's standards, is a little outdated with its gameplay style. Don't remake America's Army, don't remake first-person shooters. It's simply not worth it.

9 Deserves A Remake: Brute Force

For some reason, developers have been really pushing online-multiplayer the past decade while completely ignoring the fact that a lot of gamers miss the fun of couch cooperative gaming. Brute Force was one of those rare games that opted for four-player co-op, where each player could bring something unique to the team. The characters Tex and Brutus specialized in direct attacks, Hawk deals in stealth, and Flint can snipe any other enemies from afar.

However, when Brute Force was released after so much hype, criticisms were brought up stating that it was nothing but a standard shoot'em up. So, there could be some improvements made to the gameplay ideas. Brute Force would be a welcomed blast from the past of strategizing with your friends from the comfort of a couch.

8 Should Not Be Remade: Dino Crisis 3

Dino Crisis 1 & 2 were great games when they came out. They were innovative, they were fun, and they even brought a new horror element to dinosaurs we didn't think there could be. But, then Dino Crisis 3 came out and sealed the franchise's fate. Would die-hard fans love to finally see a conclusion to Dino Crisis 2's cliffhanger ending? Sure, but there's no way the game will live up to the hype that gamers have put on it.

If we actually want to see an actual good remake of Dino Crisis 3, Capcom needs to prove that they can revive the first two with updated mechanics in order for it to work. They do that, maybe we'll talk about revisiting Dino Crisis 3. Until then, may it rest in peace.

7 Deserves A Remake: Blinx The Time Sweeper

free games with gold april 2020

Blinx: The Time Sweeper didn't get a fair shake when it was released back in 2005. When it was released, it was only met with average reviews and was officially dubbed as one of the "Most Overrated Games Ever" by GameSpy. But that might be a little harsh because the game did boast some really creative ideas.

The story followed an anthropomorphic cat named Blinx on a mission to prevent the end of Dimension B1Q64 and rescue the princess from the nefarious Tom-Tom Gang. He accomplishes this with a TS-1000 Vacuum Cleaner that can control time by slowing it down, speeding it up, reversing it and so forth. Unfortunately, the control method was deemed too confusing which resulted in the game getting a reputation for being punishingly difficult. A remake could easily buff out those mistakes and possibly give us some more unique.

6 Should Not Be Remade: Panzer Dragoon Orta

Rail shooters, while still popular in the arcades, have not been doing so well in the past few years. Probably because while it was an interesting mechanic to introduce with a plastic gun to point at the screen, it was a less than thrilling experience with the controller at home.

Not that Panzer Dragoon Orta was a bad game, it was actually a critical darling when it came out, but it wasn't anything as special as people were making it out to be. Instead of reviving an outdated game, why not create a fully-interactive dragon combat game? Like Lair... but good.

5 Deserves A Remake: Jade Empire

Before Bioware's magnum opus Mass Effect, they had the incredibly innovative Jade Empire. This open-world game was a rare combination of the fighting genre mixed with RPG elements. The game was highly praised for being imaginative, accessible, and beautiful to look at, but there was a slight criticism of the fighting mechanics.

With how far fighting games have come since 2005, it'd be great for some developers to build upon this idea and improve in the few places this game could use it. Since the Mass Effect franchise has been put on hold indefinitely, this could a great property to revive.

4 Should Not Be Remade: Beyond Good And Evil

Beyond Good And Evil

Beyond Good and Evil was a game that flew under the radar for a lot of gamers. But over the years, it has gained a massive cult following. So much so that a sequel has been in the works since 2008. It would probably pretty safe to say that we want that sequel more than a remastered remake. You know that they will probably end up doing that if Ubisoft ever gets around to releasing the game, but we don't need a reminder as to why we enjoyed the game 17 years ago. They need to prove to us that the wait as been worth it.

3 Deserves A Remake: Fuzion Frenzy

xbox game pass family friendly games

We all know Mario Party is a great game to play at parties, until that one overly-competitive friend starts cursing out everyone after their star is stolen, but not enough people talk about Fuzion Frenzy. For those who don't know, much like Mario Party, Fuzion Frenzy was a co-op party game that featured 45 different competitive mini-games. These games varied from rolling balls and demolition to reflex-training and racing.

The game did not get the best reviews and the sequel was even worse received, but this is still a series that could have a lot of potential. Bringing back the argument of couch co-op games, Fuzion Frenzy could help breathe new life in the gameplay genre.

2 Should Not Be Remade: Steel Battalion

Honestly, just let it die. Back 2002, Capcom took a risk and developed a vehicle-tank game called Steel Battalion. You control a heavily-armed mecha in militaristic combat, but there was a twist. In order to play the game, you had to use the specially made large controller to give the player the maximum realistic experience of controlling a tank.

However, they tried to bring the franchise back from the dead for the Xbox 360 Kinect and it was a disaster. The controls were completely broken and inconsistent, making it unplayable. Even the concept itself is now boring compared to what we've experienced in the past decade of gaming. This is an idea that simply does not need to be revisited.

1 Deserves A Remake: Jet Set Radio Future

No other original Xbox title on this list has left such a strong nostalgic note as Jet Set Radio Future. While the first game was remastered, it received less than stellar reviews due to the controls and ridiculous difficulty. JSRF was a complete upgrade to the first game, with better graphics, better controls while keeping the same insane tone.

With all this amazing gameplay and long list of memorable characters, why has this game been lost in obscurity? It was met with nothing but praise at its release and people remember it fondly. If there's any classic Xbox title that needs a comeback, it's this one.
