Now that they've been around for more than 20 years, there are a few MMORPGs that currently have both modern and classic versions running at the same time. World of Warcraft is one example, with producer Blizzard recently making an announcement about an expansion for the retail game and the next patch in the continued historic progression of Classic.

The latest patch in Classic: World of Warcraft includes a whole new area, a vast island off the northern coast of the Eastern Kingdoms under the care of a faction known as The Shattered Sun Offensive. The Isle of Quel'Danas is located only steps away from Silvermoon City, the capital of the Blood Elves, and although this is a Horde race the isle is accessible to all players of both factions and is entirely new content for everyone.

6 Shattrath City

Although the most important locations for this faction are mostly on the isle, all players have to start elsewhere in order to gain access to the Isle of Quel'Danas itself. Talk to a Draenei NPC named General Tiras'alan, a representative of the Offensive, standing next to A'dal to get the initial quest that leads to the Isle of Quel'Danas for the first time.

Shattrath is also an important hub for various other Shattered Sun NPCs giving out daily quests once the initial phase on the island is completed. The dailies that are offered to players in Shattrath are usually done in Outland, specifically the zones of Netherstorm and Garadar, so there's always the option of grinding the reputation levels outside of the new zone to avoid the crowds.

5 Sun's Reach Harbor

All players, regardless of faction, find themselves at a flight path on the western half of this harbor upon their arrival in Quel'Danas. This location will be connected to all the usual flight paths normally connected to the player's faction after they use it for the first time, making travel a bit more convenient.

That's not the only important feature players can find in the Sun's Reach Harbor. Archmage Ne'thul is located on one of the nearby docked ships, and speaking to him is the objective of one of the earliest quests. There are also a few important NPCs in possession of certain valuable artifacts on the deck with him.

4 Magister's Terrace

This is the new 5-player dungeon that was introduced in Patch 2.4.0, and like its counterparts in Outland and Tanaris, it has both a heroic and normal mode. A few quests need to be completed in normal mode before the heroic version unlocks, but no additional attunement is required. The entrance is slightly out of the way, located along a road that winds east and uphill from Sun's Reach Harbor.

Magister's Terrace is an important part of Blood Elf and World of Warcraft lore, and the player's attack on this stronghold is the final defeat of the former Blood Elf leader, Kael'thas Sunstrider. Every party will face this famous character as the fourth and final boss in this dungeon.

3 The Dawning Square

As the Shattered Sun Offensive moves further south and east, they'll reclaim more of Sun's Reach with the player's help, and the Dawning Square becomes accessible. It looks like an innocent public park, and it would be if not for the demonic invaders and mysterious portal they seem to be guarding.

There's a quest to pass through this portal using a special scroll, so players are advised to make sure they have this scroll in their bags. Otherwise, they'll fight their way to the portal only to find that they can't pass through it. Once they do, however, they can finish an easy quest by ensuring NPC Magistrix Seyla is safe and sound, and offering a couple of daily quests that players can do in Hellfire Penninsula.

2 Sun's Reach Armory

If these locations could be voted on by the players and ranked in that order, the Sun's Reach Armory would be first on the list. The reason being is that this is where the vendors for the shiny new items will be located once the Shattered Sun Offensive moves into Phase 3.

The handy smith, whose name is Hauthaa and is actually located just outside the building, trades equipment in exchange for Honor Badges and is one of the most popular NPCs in this patch. Players can find the other exotic gear vendors on the second floor, and they trade their wares for a variety of loot tokens.

1 The Sunwell Plateau

Sunwell-Plateau-Raid-TBC-Classic

This isn't just the location of the fabled Sunwell, but also where players can find the new 25-player raid. The power of the Sunwell is the reason for all of this activity in the first place. An army of demons and other evil forces at the command of Kil'jaeden, the last boss waiting for players at the end of this raid, is seeking to take over the Sunwell and harness its magical energy. The Shattered Sun Offensive is the united front attempting to stop them.

Unlike the 25-player raids in Outland, no quest chain or attunement is required. For those who are brave and skilled enough to defeat Kil'jaeden, a cinematic awaits that reveals the ultimate fate of the Sunwell.
