Clash Royale is changing up the meta in an unprecedented move by fully removing a card for the first time in the game's history and replacing it with another. The card to be removed, Heal Spell, is functionally similar to its replacement, Heal Spirit, but there are some key differences which will change strategies moving forward.

Clash Royale's new Heal Spirit card is a troop rather than a spell, and although it costs the same, the healing it provides is far superior to that of Heal Spell. The caveat, of course, is that Heal Spell was much easier to use, while Heal Spirit will require proper placement and timing.

Heal Spirit functions almost identically as the existing Ice Spirit does, moving at the same rate and having the same amount of hit points, but its explosion effect heals rather than causing ice damage. That said, Heal Spirit must still attack an enemy unit in order to trigger its healing effect, which is somewhat odd.

Clash Royale's tenth season is setting trends for the future of the game, as this replacement may be the first of many down the line. Heal Spirit will certainly change the way players approach the healing of their units, and may mix things up in the meta quite a bit. Players may find it wise to revisit their Clash Royale decks.

Clash Royale is available now on Android and iOS.
