With many newer players beginning their world conquests in Civilization 6 recently, the modding community for the title has become more active again. These mods range from quality of life changes to additional Civ 6 leaders to even gameplay additions.

Before downloading any mods for Civilization 6, players should make sure that they are downloading from trusted sources. Nexus Mods and the Steam Workshop both scan their uploaded mods before allowing players to download them to prevent the uploading of viruses. Players should also be aware that some mods are capable of causing Civilization 6 to act strangely if multiple mods are incompatible with each other.

Civ 6 Leader Mods

Civ 6 Touhou Mod

These mods add additional leaders to Civilization 6 that can be controlled by both the player and the AI. These new leaders range from real world leaders to fictional characters that can all stand together or apart in world conquest. Many of these leaders come with their own special bonuses, adding more options without the need for DLC in many cases.

Players wanting more historical leaders are recommended to look at the mods provided by Steam Workshop user Sukritact, as they provide countless mods with new characters and historical figures that are sure to add to any player's game.

Players have also created custom world maps for those who don't want a world that's completely randomly generated. Like with the leader mods, some are based on and designed around real world locations while others are fictional places.

Players should note that if they intend on playing with mods in multiplayer that all players should have the mods being used in order to prevent errors. Mods can be enabled and disabled from the main menu.

Civilization 6 is available for iOS, Linux, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
