The Citizen Skywatch Logo

[Update] As was pointed out in the comment section, Citizen Skywtatch is related with 2K Games' upcoming title, XCOM.

With GamesCom just around the corner, many are eagerly awaiting new game reveals, and Citizen Skywatch (a newly unveiled website) may have something in store for fans of Rockstar and 2K Games.

The mysterious new site is tied to both companies, with both Rockstar and 2K appearing in the website's server name. As of this writing, the official website for Citizen Skywatch is very barren except for the words Citizen Skywatch, though the website's official Twitter and YouTube pages could offer more insight into what it could be unveiled.

Both the YouTube and Twitter feeds for Citizen Skywatch list their locations as "we are everywhere." The Twitter feed also makes reference to itself as the Citizen Skywatch "teletype feed." Given the period-piece sound of the word "teletype," as well as the title Citizen Skywatch, some people might be led to believe that the website is teasing a BioShock property. Skywatch could refer to the city of Colombia in the upcoming BioShock: Infinite and the word teletype gives way to the steampunk-influenced setting of the BioShock franchise, maybe BioShock: Infinite or the upcoming BioShock PlayStation Vita project - though if that were the case, it wouldn't explain why Rockstar games appears in the server's name.

One common speculation is that Citizen Skywatch could be the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Many have been anticipating an announcement for Grand Theft Auto 5 for some time now, and may even argue that the next entry in the franchise is long overdue. It's been almost three years since Grand Theft Auto 4 came out, and fans are definitely clamoring for more, especially after seeing the recent Grand Theft Auto 4 PC Mod. While a Grand Theft Auto 5 announcement would be welcome, it seems unlikely that Citizen Skywatch is related to the Grand Theft Auto franchise. The Citizen Skywatch font does not resemble anything remotely close to Grand Theft Auto, as well words like teletype and the "we are everywhere" moniker don't sound like they would fit into the Grand Theft Auto universe very well.

The most likely situation could be that Citizen Skywatch has some relation to Agent. Agent was originally announced at Sony's 2009 E3 press conference as a PS3 exclusive. After the event no more details were given about the title and it's current develpoment state is unknown. Citizen Skywatch's emphasis on conspiracy ("we are everywhere"), not to mention the image featured on the Twitter feed is also found on the American Dollar, lends credence to the Agent possibility.

GamesCom starts this week, August 17th to 21st and it's likely that whatever project Citizen Skywatch is related to will be announced at that time.

What do you think Citizen Skywatch could be? Grand Theft Auto5? Agent? Or an entirely new franchise?
