With a highly anticipated sequel to Cities: Skylines underway, developer Colossal Order has revealed all the game's final content packs, mini-expansions, and free updates. Cities: Skylines is getting a surprising amount of new content despite a sequel being right around the corner including tons of new buildings, hours of new music, and several Content Creator Packs developed by the game's devoted community.

Since 2015, Cities: Skylines has been regarded as the premier city-building game in the eyes of virtual urban planners, dethroning the SimCity series in the wake of Simcity 2013's notorious flop. Through its 8-year run, the game has released a plethora of expansions, mini-expansions, content packs, and DLC that built upon its strong foundations with both major and minor additions. Although Cities: Skylines has over $250 of DLC available for purchase, the base game and its many free updates along the way still offer an incredible amount of content, and its Steam Workshop integration is second to none.

With Cities: Skylines 2 recently announced, it's a bit surprising that the original still has quite a lot left in store before the big release. Colossal Order has revealed a set of "World Tour" DLC that will be made available at different times throughout the year. First up on March 22 will be Sports Venues, Shopping Malls, and Africa In Miniature community-made packs that introduce new assets according to these themes. New radio station DLC will be arriving at the same time, including Pop-Punk Radio, 80s Movie Tunes, and JADIA (Just Another Day In Africa).

In May, more Cities: Skylines DLC will arrive in the form of Railroads of Japan, a content creator pack featuring Japanese railroads and related assets. May will also feature the Industrial Evolution content creator pack will include new growable buildings from different areas, which should add a ton of visual variety without players needing to hand-place everything. Additionally, The Brooklyn & Queens content creator pack comes with its own architectural themes based on the Brooklyn and Queens neighborhoods. Finally, May will also see new radio stations like 90s Pop Radio and Piano Tunes.

The teaser video caps off with one last hint of what's to come, an untitled mini-expansion presumably related to vacation-themed content. While most of the year's remaining DLC is cosmetic or musical, this one could be interesting as vacationers and tourists might have a tangible impact on the player's economy and transportation. With so much post-release content available for the original, it could be challenging for Cities: Skylines 2's features to hold up against a game that has seen nearly a decade of iteration.

Cities: Skylines is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
