One of SYFY's upcoming projects is Chucky, a new TV series continuing the story of the eponymous murderous doll and maintaining the continuity of the original line of Child's Play films. Just recently, several people involved in the project confirmed that the Chucky series had begun filming, giving it a rough release window of fall 2021. Now, it's the official SYFY Twitter account that's teasing the return of the killer doll with an interesting behind-the-scenes look at production.

A film series like Child's Play, which revolves around sentient children's toys, is inevitably going to need some kind of special effects in order to bring its main characters to life. It seems that for Chucky, that's going to be achieved using some robotics that allows Chucky to move and wield weaponry without the assistance of CGI or human handlers.

The teaser shows off just a few small clips of the robotic get-up, though it currently lacks any costuming or details. It's a pretty impressive-looking bot, seeming to be broken up into some legs that are capable of standing on their own, with a torso that can wield and swing a knife in order to threaten people nearby. The last thing shown off is a rather creepy-looking robotic face with eyes, teeth, and all sorts of pieces that presumably will allow Chucky to make all kinds of scary facial expressions.

Other than the behind-the-scenes robotics, the teaser also has a few other fun additions. As the text states: "It's time to reconnect with an old friend." As that final 'old friend' line comes up, Chucky himself can be heard laughing maniacally, before shouting, "I always come back!" The teaser then ends with a glimpse at the show's title logo and provides a more official reveal for the fall 2021 release window.

As it's just a teaser, there isn't really any new information about the show itself that isn't already established by the official synopsis. The basic plot, as announced, is that Chucky is found during a suburban yard sale, leading to a string of murders in a peaceful town. This eventually draws figures from Chucky's past to the town, who threaten to expose his secrets.

Presumably, there will be more to the show once it actually gets a proper trailer, but since it's only just started filming, it'll probably be a few months before audiences get a proper look at Chucky in all his glory. Until then, fans will have to make do with the previous Child's Play films, which will likely continue to run on SYFY from time to time in anticipation of the series.

Chucky will air on SYFY in the fall of 2021.
