The popular Five Nights at Freddy's franchise is currently trending on Twitter due to some screenshots of news stories describing incidents at one Chuck E. Cheese restaurant that are shockingly similar to the first game in the animatronic horror series. However, these stories are simply not true.

While many people can see that Chuck E. Cheese restaurants have a striking resemblance to the Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria from the FNAF series, there are clear distinctions that separate them. In the real world, Chuck E. Cheese is an arcade and entertainment pizza place that recently filed for bankruptcy due to the coronavirus' impact on the economy. Freddy Fazbear's mascot is an animatronic bear that prowls the pizzeria at night, secretly terrorizing children, security guards, and game testers alike.

However, fans of the FNAF series sometimes blur the lines between these two franchises. A fan of the horror franchise took to Twitter and shared screenshots of news stories that narratively followed the original Five Nights at Freddy's story. The headlines say that five children have gone missing at the same Chuck E. Cheese location, strange odors could be smelled coming from the animatronics, an after-hours employee passed away at a relatively young age, and that those working at night witnessed odd movements from the main mechanical mouse and his friends on stage.

Descriptions under the headline of the worker's death reference Chuck E. Cheese's bankruptcy filing to lead readers to believe that these stories were recent and that people were just discovering this news. However, these stories are all hoaxes, as they have never been published on the news sites that are seen in the images. While these fake news stories may look convincing, they are merely fabricated, most likely the work of a dedicated FNAF fan.

It is a relief that people won't have to worry about a real life jump scare from the Chuck E. Cheese restaurants as well. The next Five Nights at Freddy's installment is currently in the works, and fans are hoping that Scott Cawthon will once again delivery with intriguing FNAF lore and terrifying scares when the next game is released.
