It remains to be seen how accurate the big Nvidia leak in September actually was. The whole list of games that are supposedly coming to PC sounds too good to be true, with it consisting of further PlayStation Ports, remasters, and remakes. This included quite a few Square Enix titles that have been requested by fans for a while, such as a Final Fantasy 9 remake and remasters of Final Fantasy Tactics and PlayStation One title Chrono Cross, the sequel to SNES RPG Chrono Trigger, which is still regarded as one of the best video games of all time. And according to one leaker, that last one may be legitimate.

On the most recent episode of the XboxEra podcast, Shpeshal_Nick, who has previously claimed to have heard talk of a Quake reboot with a female protagonist, says that not only is a Chrono Cross remaster in the works, but it’s also the big PlayStation remake that has been rumored for the Game Awards show in December. His comments can be heard in the video below starting from the 1:37:32 mark.

In October, a singer-songwriter talked about working on a big PlayStation remake that will be announced around Christmas time. It’s believed that composer Yasunori Mitsuda is working on the same project, who has previously made music for the Xeno series (Xenogears, Xenosaga, and Xenoblade) and both Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. All in all, this does seem to lend further credence to Shpeshal_Nick’s claims.

However, one other interesting detail from the insider is that the Chrono Cross remaster will be a multiplatform title, despite it originally releasing as a PlayStation exclusive in 1999. He doesn’t know if it will come to Xbox, but, at the very least, fans shouldn’t automatically assume that it will only be available on PlayStation platforms. So, it could theoretically come to PC, Nintendo Switch, and even mobile devices. A PC release would also make the Nvidia leak seem more valid in some peoples’ eyes.

At the very least, gamers can expect to see a lot of new announcements during The Game Awards. Host Geoff Keighley has promised that there will be more reveals at this year’s show than ever before and there are plenty of theories and rumors of which games will make an appearance, be they brand new ones or games that have already been announced but are in dire need of an update, such as Avowed and Fable.
