If movie fans have ever wondered how actors train to get into shape for action roles, they don’t need to look any further than Chris Hemsworth's workout video, which he posted on social media recently. The star of Netflix's Extraction showed a video of clips from his insane and intense workout, and he posted a list of the workouts with how many sets and reps he does in an attempt to encourage others to get moving.

Hemsworth is preparing his body for the upcoming sequel to the 2020 Netflix film Extraction. The actor said he normally does more heavy weight lifting, but he has transitioned into doing “a lot more bodyweight functional movements concentrating on agility, strength, and speed.” Hemsworth said fans should give the workout a try, but their lungs will definitely be screaming for mercy after this one. The video already has over twelve million views, so it’s fair to assume there have been many fan attempts at this workout, just like when Scarlett Johansson posted her equally insane Black Widow workout.

In the video, Hemsworth can be seen boxing, doing squats, push-ups, and more with just a quick two-minute rest in between sets. And it looks like all the hard work is paying off, as Hemsworth already looks absolutely shredded. The video was posted on September 8, and the Extraction sequel (which does not have an official title yet, as it is still in pre-production) will most likely be released sometime in 2022. It goes to show movie fans just how much work goes into the making of a film that goes beyond the finished and final product.

Sam Hargrave, who directed the first Extraction film, will also be directing the sequel. The first film was written by Joe Russo, based on the graphic novel written by Ande Parks and the Russo Brothers entitled Ciudad. The story follows a Black Ops mercenary (played by Hemsworth) who rescues an Indian drug lord’s son who has been kidnapped. Not long after its release, Extraction was already greenlit by Netflix for a sequel. That’s most likely because Extraction is the most-watched Netflix original in history, just shy of 100 million household views within the first four weeks of its release.

Although some critics gave the movie mixed reviews for its excessive and “aimless” violence, many action fans are still excited for the sequel. Extraction currently has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 67 percent, but no movie can please everyone. It’s amazing to see the amount of work that goes into making a film. Hemsworth getting ripped is just one of the many things actors do to prepare for new movies, and it’s no easy task. The dedication the actor has shown to his role is inspiring, and maybe it can inspire others to get fit, too.

The end of Extraction was somewhat of a cliffhanger, and Hemsworth’s video will put fans of the movie at ease knowing the sequel is being worked on.

Extraction is available to stream on Netflix.
