Former Marvel star Chris Evans is taking his star power around the world, as he will be joining Dwayne Johnson in the upcoming Red One, a holiday action-adventure comedy film from Amazon Studios. Variety reports that Red One has been in development from Amazon Studios and that the upcoming project will be based on an original short story by Hiram Garcia, president of production at Seven Bucks Productions. Reports describe the project as "a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.”

While there are of course not too many other details released due to the film being in early development, what is known is that Jake Kasdan will be directing the project. Kasdan, son of Lawrence Kasdan (writer for Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back), is best known for his work on 2017's Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle and 2019's Jumanji: The Next Level (who worked with Johnson on both films).

Red One will be written by Chris Morgan, who is best known for his work on the Fast and Furious franchise. With talents like Kasdan and Morgan on board to direct and write the film along with the star power of Evans and Johnson, Red One will surely add up to be one thrilling adventure film.

For Evans, after closing out his MCU career as Captain America in Avengers: Endgame, the actor has since been involved in many acclaimed works. He appeared in Rian Johnson's Knives Out before starring in the legal drama Defending Jacob and making other cameos in films like Free Guy and Don't Look Up. Evans will reunite with Knives Out co-star Ana de Armas in a new romantic action-adventure film titled Ghosted while also gearing up to star alongside Ryan Gosling and Armas (again) in Netflix's upcoming The Gray Man, the new spy thriller from Marvel directing duo Anthony and Joe Russo. He will also voice Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story spin-off, Lightyear.

As for Johnson, he continues to cement himself as one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) stars in Hollywood. After starring in Red Notice, one Netflix's most-streamed films to date, and Disney's Jungle Cruise, Johnson is tapping into the superhero genre in 2022, as he will voice Krypto the Superdog in DC League of Super-Pets and play the anti-hero Teth Adam / Black Adam in DC's Black Adam. Luckily for fans of the two stars, they will be seeing a lot on the big screen (or small) in the coming months.

Red One is in early development.
