Choosing A Class

In the beginning, choosing the perfect class is not that important. There are several dominant classes in the game, but those just learning the mechanics will not need to focus on finding their endgame class on day one.

The main thing all beginners should do is try to learn how to maximize the potential of their first class. Play for a few hours with whatever class seems interesting and understand the initial mechanics before moving on.

Class Abilities

Every class has an ability bar that can be used when it is charged up. These abilities charge up relatively quickly, so it makes sense to use them when available. You never know when an enemy will come out of nowhere with an ability or charged attack. Successful hits and kills will charge up the bar even faster.

If you don't use it, you lose it.

The Revive System

When downed, warriors have the chance to be revived by their teammates. There are two ways to be revived in the game:

  • By connecting two hits while crawling on the ground. As soon as the second hit registers damage, gamers can get up on their own.
  • The traditional method of having a teammate perform the revive works too. Backing away from the battle is a good way to find a safe space for a revive.

The Right Stick Is Your Friend

It is important to learn movement, as well as attack direction when fighting. The right stick will move the camera, but it will also guide the weapon across the screen for more precise hits.

As one may assume, headshots deal more damage than body shots and are more difficult to block. Camera movement can take some getting used to, but once perfected, warriors will be taking the heads off of dozens of enemies with precision strikes.

Quick Attacks Are Move Effective In Team Battles

The slower, more powerful attacks do more damage, but present risks when learning the game. Missing will penalize a player far more than a stab or overhead attack. Especially when fighting as a unit, the stabs and overhead bashes will be more consistent than power attacks.

The AOE on charged attacks can kill teammates because of how wide the mechanic is. Killing an enemy and an ally is a net-zero tactic in Chivalry 2.

Controlling The Direction Of An Attack

Every attack is set to start on the right side of the character. However, by pressing the left stick, the attack can be switched to a left swing or stab. It is important to keep in mind that a second attack will begin in the opposite direction.

This is particularly important when dealing with multiple enemies. Switching up the angle can be the difference between another kill or a parry.

Be Chivalrous

Chivalry 2 is a team-based game. Those that wish to win will need to play the objectives and support their fellow warriors. Likewise, picking up teammates when possible will give every side a better chance of success.

Completing objectives not only rewards people with a good amount of experience but will also bring armies closer to an ultimate victory. They may win the battle, but not the war.

Using The Archer

When firing a barrage of arrows, it can be hard to spot who is a friendly and who is an opponent. While aiming at teammates, the reticle will be green, clearly denoting an ally.

When firing at enemies, the reticle will not appear green, and opponent names will appear above their characters. Getting a height advantage is helpful when using the bow, and it will provide a better field of view to limit friendly fire.

Alternative Attacks

When sprinting, warriors can perform two additional attacks. The first is a tackle, and the second is a charge attack with the weapon. Players will know they are in a full sprint when the two arrows at the center of the screen appear.

The exact animation and effects will differ according to the class being used. Tackles will knock down opponents, making them easy targets to eliminate. Similarly, sprint attacks can deal a devastating amount of damage if timed correctly.

Be Resourceful

Every class has a secondary weapon, and there are a number of weapons that can be picked up in the environment. Getting used to incorporating secondary attacks can provide advantages when in an engagement.

For many of the melee classes, characters have a ranged attack that can weaken enemies before closing the distance. Plus, throwing items picked up on the map is a lot of fun to do.
