Despite games like For Honor and Mordhau sharing the limelight in terms of medieval, realistic combat games, Chivalry was the game that put many eyes onto the genre. With the anticipated sequel Chivalry 2 having launched back in April 2021, it seems developer Torn Banner Studios is looking to keep the Chivalry franchise fresh with new updates dropping for the game. The most recent update for Chivalry 2 was the "Merry Chivmas" update, which launched in December of 2021 and coincided with the game being free-to-play for a weekend.

After two months no new content being brought to Chivalry 2 though, now Torn Banner is giving Chivalry 2 players a new reason to strap on some armor and charge into the midst of combat for either the Mason or Agatha factions.

The House Aberfell update brings a hefty amount of new content to Chivalry 2. As a multiplayer game, Chivalry 2's updates mostly add new game modes, weapons, or maps for players to fight over in the strategic and grounded combat the game provides. The first thing detailed in the House Aberfell trailer uploaded to Torn Banner's YouTube channel is the Aberfell map, which sees players on the Agatha side storm a beachfront in order to take objectives. The objectives in the Aberfell map are new too, with players having to collect peasants and pigs from the Mason settlements.

On top of a new map and objectives to play around, the gameplay shown in Chivalry 2's trailer for the House Aberfell update displays a new set of cosmetics entitled the "Highlander Pack." While this cosmetic set clearly takes inspiration from the Highlander movie, it was also pointed out by fans that much of the "Highlander" cosmetics could be better named in order to fit the Gaelic culture they represent. The "Highlander Sword" for example was one source of complaints, as many believed it should have been named Claymore, which is Gaelic for "great sword." Names aside, this cosmetic set for Chivalry 2 gives players the opportunity to adorn themselves with animal heads and furs.

The final detail of the Chivalry 2 House Aberfell update that was revealed was the fact that it is now available for all owners of Chivalry 2. With a map that shows off a heavy amount of Gaelic inspiration, and typical Chivalry 2 gore on display in the gameplay, the update is likely to bring a fresh amount of content to the medieval combat game.

Chivalry 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
