Build-A-Bear Workshop expands its lineup of Pokemon plushies, giving fans the opportunity to purchase a Charmander stuffed animal with a variety of accessories.

Last year, Build-A-Bear Workshop forged a relationship with The Pokemon Company, giving kids a chance to build their very own stuffed Pikachu companion, complete with a limited edition Pokemon trading card. Since that initial partnership, Pokemon has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity thanks to the success of Pokemon GO and the recent releases of Pokemon Sun and Moon, so it’s no surprise to see Build-A-Bear move forward with more stuffed Pokemon, with Charmander serving as the latest addition to the lineup.

Charmander, possibly the most popular starter Pokemon in series history besides Pikachu, can be purchased from the Build-A-Bear website right now. Available in limited quantities, a Charmander stuffed animal from Build-A-Bear costs a whopping $61. While that may seem a little pricey for a stuffed animal, it’s worth noting that Charmander comes with a few extra goodies to sweeten the pot.

Not only will consumers get their hands on a cute stuffed Charmander, but it also comes with a sound chip, a Great Ball hoodie, a Lucario hoodie, and a Build-A-Bear Workshop exclusive trading card. Those that would rather skip all these enticing bonus items and build their own Charmander in-store will be able to do just that at participating Build-A-Bear Workshop locations beginning December 8th.

Charmander Shows Up At Build-A-Bear Workshop - Charmander stuffed animal accessories

With Charmander’s addition, it seems as though Build-A-Bear’s video game initiative is paying off. Since introducing Pikachu to its lineup of plushies last year, Build-A-Bear has also added fellow Pokemon Eevee, along with Sonic and Tails from Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. While we don’t have exact sales figures, it seems as though these stuffed animals are selling well, and so one has to imagine that even more video game-themed products will pop up at Build-A-Bear locations.

For example, one can expect more popular Pokemon to join the lineup of Build-A-Bear Workshop’s video game products, as well as characters from other major video game properties. Nintendo has shown more of a willingness to branch out with its character and franchises, so perhaps we’ll see iconic characters like Donkey Kong and Mario get their own stuffed animals at Build-A-Bear Workshop in the near future.

With Pokemon GO making $2 million a day and Sun and Moon breaking sales records, the resurgence of Pokemon fever is showing no signs of dying down. If the franchise is able to maintain its popularity moving forward, perhaps with a Pokemon game on Nintendo Switch to keep fans interested, then there should be many more Build-A-Bear Pokemon that will join the likes of Pikachu, Eevee, and Charmander.
