Video game companies are working tirelessly to appease their fans. Because of high demand, video game developers are porting their games to other consoles and adding features like cross-platform play to make games more accessible to players. Seeing as how video game characters are intellectual properties, the likelihood of many characters below making it in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate seems low. However, with so much interest in SSBU's DLC characters, anything seems possible at this point.

With DLC characters unannounced, it is plausible that iconic characters such as Lara Croft, Crash Bandicoot, and Master Chief could make their way into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. These are 5 characters that should be in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (and 5 who could never show up).

10 Lara Croft (Should Be In)

As a character who in recent years has appeared on numerous consoles, including the Sega Saturn, PS1, Dreamcast, Windows, Mac, PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PS4, it's about time that Lara Croft returns to Nintendo. Tomb Raider: Legend was the only game to release on a Nintendo platform, and it released for the Nintendo DS.

It's a small light of hope that could indicate Lara Croft could come to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Her climbing prowess and bow mastery would be a good fit for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. With the most comprehensive roster of video game characters so far, Lara Croft could be the next challenger approaching.

9 Kratos (Could Never Show Up)

His thirst for power and war mastery makes Kratos a good fit for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Kratos has an unquenchable thirst for power, and he is one of the video games' most recognizable characters.

God of War has always been a PlayStation exclusive, so it seems unlikely that Kratos will ever come to Nintendo. But it doesn't hurt to hope that one day, Nintendo will bring one of our most favorite protagonists to Nintendo and in turn, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

8 Geralt of Rivia (Should Be In)

With a The Witcher Netflix series swiftly approaching, it would seem as if the video game movie and television series stigma have gone away. If Geralt of Rivia can get his own Netflix series, surely he could be brought to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Moreover, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition is scheduled to release for the Nintendo Switch sometime in late 2019 or early 2020.

With Geralt of Rivia making his way to Nintendo Switch, there's no telling what Nintendo might have in store for The Witcher 3's protagonist. Nintendo may have already planned for Geralt of Rivia to join the roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

7 Ryu Hayabusa (Could Never Show Up)

Since the original Ninja Gaiden released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), there hasn't been another Ninja Gaiden release for Nintendo. Later Ninja Gaiden games such as Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Ninja Gaiden Black released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox.

Ninja Gaiden 2 was an exclusive for the Xbox 360, but we haven't seen a single Ninja Gaiden game release for Nintendo. A lack of games for Nintendo could indicate Ryu Hayabusa will never come to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but we can only speculate at this point.

6 Conker the Squirrel (Should Be In)

Conker the Squirrel's first appearance was in Diddy Kong Racing for the Nintendo 64. He didn't have any dialogue, so most people recognized him for being an adorable furry squirrel. Years after the release of Diddy Kong Racing, Conker became the titular character in Conker's Bad Fur Day. As a foul-mouthed alcoholic, Conker's personality changed drastically. Regardless, people seemed to love Conker's antics and Conker's Bad Fur Day is still recognized as one of the greatest games of all time.

It would be monumental if Conker were added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. His moves should consist of his frying pan swing and helicopter tail, but definitely not his drunk urinating move!

5 Big Daddy (Could Never Show Up)

Big Daddies are genetically mutated beings who have undergone changes with a substance called "ADAM." BioShock's Rapture inhabitants stay alive by consuming ADAM. A Big Daddy used to be a human until being merged with a giant suit of armor and a drill.

As his name would insinuate, a Big Daddy would be a dominating force in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's roster. A Bid Daddy's drill and slams make it the perfect fit for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Like Bowser and King K. Rool, a Big Daddy would be an extra-large character who dominates the battlefield despite slow maneuverability. Sounds good in practice, but seems highly unlikely.

4 Crash Bandicoot (Should Be In)

With recent remakes such as the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, Crash Bandicoot's popularity has never been higher.

Now would be the perfect time to add Crash Bandicoot to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate; he is the SSBU character that people deserve. Crash Bandicoot's laidback personality is why people love him so much. We can only hope that they add Crash Bandicoot in a later DLC pack.

3 Tracer (Could Never Show Up)

As the character who appears on the cover of Overwatch, one of the most popular games of the 21st century, Tracer would be an excellent addition to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Tracer's teleportation and time-travel would be a game-changer for SSBU.

Undoubtedly, other Overwatch characters like Reaper, Widowmaker, Roadhog, and Junkrat would make great additions to SSBU, but as the most prevalent character in Overwatch media, Tracer would be the first choice to add to SSBU. Seeing as how Overwatch was never brought to the Nintendo Switch, it seems unlikely Tracer will ever join SSBU.

2 Spyro The Dragon (Should Be In)

As a video game company that has been around for decades, Sony has not one but several mascots. Spyro the Dragon's flame breath and gliding would be perfect additions to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Without a doubt, SSBU has done a phenomenal job of adding as many of our favorite characters as possible, but there are quite a few they left out. As gamers, we are entitled to ask for it all and expect nothing less. So please, Nintendo, bring Spyro the Dragon to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to make it the best Super Smash Bros. game ever made.

1 Master Chief (Could Never Show Up)

As the protagonist of the widely acclaimed Halo franchise, Master Chief is a representation of hope and justice as he saves the day time and time again. It would be ludicrous to suggest that Master Chief shouldn't be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

He is one of video games' most recognizable characters and is widely considered to be the mascot of Xbox. Sure, licensing issues will make adding Master Chief to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate a challenge, but it would be awesome nonetheless.
