The newest Mortal Kombat movie had fans excited the moment it was announced. A chance to have a less cheesy retelling of the story found in the games on the silver screen had so much potential and many fans are excited for its potential sequels coming in the future.

While the Mortal Kombat series has a plethora of amazing characters and stories that could be used for the films they have a fair number of terrible ones as well. Some characters are downright disgusting, having confusing stories or origins, or are just plain too weird to ever show up in theaters.

10 Meat

Meat Mortal Kombat Weakest Characters Ranked

Meat was originally just a bloody skeleton character model used in Mortal Kombat 4 but became so popular as a "hidden character" in the games that they decided to make him real. This disgusting creation from Shang Tsung's flesh pits would look horrible beyond all measure in the films. Hopefully neither he nor his never-before-seen brother Skully, never make it into the movies.

9 Moloch

Moloch Deadly Alliance Oni Mortal Kombat Species You Forgot Exist

Moloch originally appeared in Deadly Alliance but became a fully playable character upon the release of Armageddon. His storyline was never quite fleshed out other than being a basic Oni and being a part of several easter eggs in the games.

His character is supposed to also carry a signature metal orb to use as a weapon, but it also randomly doesn't show up, then reappears in certain moments in the games. It's unlikely this is lore-related, but it adds to his confusing nature as a character as another reason he'd be a confusing inclusion in the films.

8 Khameleon

Khameleon From Mortal Kombat Armageddon

Chameleon first appeared as a hidden character in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 but was only accessible by using a cheating device. This added mystique to his character, and as a basic ninja it's not impossible he could appear in the films. His female counterpart is a different story.

Khameleon was created as a special Nintendo exclusive character in the Mortal Kombat series, only appearing in two games — one on the Nintendo 64 and the other on the Nintendo Wii. The weird factor for Khameleon is trying to include a character so exclusive that many fans don't even realize she exists or has her own unique storyline that doesn't match Chameleon's.

7 Drahmin

Drahmin with and without his mask

We can't imagine anyone wanting to see what looks like muscles and no skin on the silver screen, and there's no other way to describe Drahmin's strange character design. He not only has a club literally mounted on his arm but the sword he carries on his shoulder is literally embedded in his flesh.

Not to mention, the mask he wears actually controls his emotions — if it's removed, he'll go into an uncontrollable rage. We don't want to see the Face of Kun-Lo nor Drahmin's actual face in any movie theater.

6 The Joker

Many gamers often forget that Injustice wasn't the only fighting game series that had this famous comics clown as a playable character. He was a DLC character in Mortal Kombat 11 but also appeared in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

The Joker himself is obviously a bit of a weirdo, but it's more the idea of creating a combination DC Comics/Mortal Kombat cinematic universe that makes him too strange of a pick to ever show up in one of the films.

5 Ferra And Torr

A smaller girl riding on a massive man's back

While it would be incredible to see Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson play Ferra and carry around someone an entire movie, it's likely that this two-character duo would be a pain to try and include in any of the movies. Not to mention, explaining their odd symbiotic nature within the world's lore might be a bit too much to try and fit into a script. Especially as Ferra and Torr were never all that loved by fans, we can't imagine the directors bringing them into the films.

4 Hydro

Hyrdo From Mortal Kombat Comics

Hydro is a ninja that many fans of Mortal Kombat don't even know exists. He originally appeared in the comics as a fellow Lin Kuei that fought alongside the original Sub Zero before being ultimately killed by Scorpion.

Hydro never appeared in an official game but did have many appearances and a story designed for the machinima (which Ed Boon helped direct) called Mortal Kombat: Legacy where his character was far more developed. It might be awkward for the film creators to bring Hydro in with licensing issues due to Legacy, his lack of recognition by fans, and his awkward story from the comics already having him be dead.

3 Kobra

Kobra is one of the most hated characters in all of Mortal Kombat history. He doesn't have a weird character design or a strange backstory, just an incredibly boring and strange inspiration. He's nothing more than a rip-off of Ken from the Street Fighter series but unlike a joke character like Bonus-Kun, Kobra isn't actually funny.

There are some fan theories that Cole Young from the movies might be a redemption arc for Kobra as a character but if that's the case, it makes it even less likely Kobra will ever make an appearance in the films.

2 Havik

chaosrealm character image from mortal kombat: deception.

Havik himself isn't a weird character in terms of design — it's his fighting style that might cause a problem. As the only resident of Chaosrealm in the games, it can be alarming seeing him contort and break his own limbs to attack his opponents. Not only would it mean a ton of CG work for the filmmakers, but it would likely make whatever movie he appeared in look more like a body horror film than a martial arts flick.

1 Mokap

Mokap Mortal Kombat

Mokap is the very definition of a joke character that fans seem to either entirely love or absolutely loathe. He was included in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon as a hidden character in honor of Carlos Pesina who played Raiden in the original three Mortal Kombat games.

Since he's only a motion capture artist with the strangest costume likely ever seen in the games, it would feel even weirder seeing him in a movie. While it's not impossible he could make a small cameo purely to amuse fans, it seems incredibly unlikely he'd have any serious role in the films.
