The Boys spinoff Gen V just got a major update thanks to series star Chance Perdomo, who confirmed the Amazon Prime Video series has wrapped filming.

The Boys has been one of Amazon's biggest streaming hits. Season 3 only just wrapped airing earlier this year, and filming on The Boys season 4 is well underway. The series is set in a world in which superheroes are common place but incredibly commercialized commodities who care little for other people, owing to their abilities and high status in society (which keeps them from facing repercussions for their actions). Gen V was ordered as a spin-off to The Boys and is set at a college which takes “supes” and readies them for the superhero market.

Taking to Instagram to post a picture of himself following a stunt in which his character will presumably be thrown out of a window, Perdomo claimed that filming has wrapped on season 1 of The Boys spinoff. He captioned the post, “That’s a wrap on Gen V. Get ready for Ass-kickin’/Compound-V Drinkin’ Debaucher/ Crashing thru your living rooms…just like this picture.Cheers folks.” Though Perdomo's role is unknown, thanks to this photo, it's safe to say that he'll be part of the action going on in Gen V, even as just a hapless bystander.

Perdomo's post embraces the college-with-superheroes aesthetic the show is going for. The background of the picture shows lawn chairs, red solo cups, and alcohol dotting his surroundings. It looks like fans of The Boys are in for another round of supes behaving badly. The main series is full to the brim of outrageous superheroic antics, and Gen V looks to be following right in its footsteps.

Gen V's plot and setting is promising, but its particulars haven’t been explored yet. It’s possible that it will be more episodic than its parent show, whose serialized nature means that the plot is always moving forward. It also hasn't been made clear how much of an impact the original series will have on Gen V. After some world-altering events following its explosive The Boys season 3 finale, Gen V may have to deal with the fallout from that, though it's possible that its characters, being college students, will simply ignore the news.

With The Boys having achieved great critical and financial success, Gen V has a lot to catch up with. But then, that perfectly fits the themes of a college-themed show. This new series will have to find its own identity in order to find its own success, just as college is a time for self-exploration. Time will tell if it works out for the supes on Gen V.

Gen V will premiere on Amazon Prime in 2023.
