Tatsuki Fujimoto's Chainsaw Man is finally getting an anime adaptation later this year and fans are already excited for it to begin. After the first part of the manga was a massive success, it was only a matter of time before Chainsaw Man got an anime adaptation. Debuting in 2018, Chainsaw Man quickly took off and has only been growing in popularity ever since. Talks about Chainsaw Man receiving an anime adaptation started quite a long time ago, however, fans had to wait for a while for that to come to fruition.
As the manga concluded in 2020, Fujimoto eventually announced his plans to work on "part 2" which is set to begin later this year. At the same time, fans finally got an announcement regarding the anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man by Studio MAPPA to look forward to. Given how popular the manga is, Chainsaw Man could well turn out to be one of the biggest anime this year. After years of waiting, the inevitable anime adaptation of one of the most brilliant stories out there is almost upon us.
What Is Chainsaw Man About?
Chainsaw Man follows the story of a young boy named Denji who appears to be broke and in huge debt. Along with him is Pochita, his pet Devil who he works along with. Denji works as a Devil Hunter, and the description of the job is pretty self-explanatory. In the world of Chainsaw Man, Devils exist. Becoming a Devil Hunter is one of the best ways to earn money, although it requires people to put their lives at risk. Nevertheless, it pays barely enough for Denji to eat and barely survive. After all, his debts are huge and that takes away quite a big chunk out of whatever he earns. Denji's pet, Pochita, is a Devil who he managed to save once and in doing so, bound it to him, asking him to do the same for him if the need ever arose.
Shortly after, Denji finds himself in similar trouble when the people who he worked for are taken over by a Zombie Devil who attacks him and leaves him at death's door. Pochita, knowing the promise that he made to Denji, saves his life by giving him his heart and living inside him, turning him into Chainsaw Man. In exchange, Pochita asks him to show him his dreams. From there onwards, Denji's life turns upside down as he's finally strong enough to dream of a better life for himself.
Who Are The Main Characters?
Chainsaw Man has quite a lot of interesting characters and Fujimoto has ensured that the cast is full of some of the most lovable characters, starting with Denji, the protagonist of the story. Of course, with Denji comes Pochita, his pet Chainsaw Devil. Fans are soon introduced to Makima, a Public Safety Devil Hunter, who plays a significant role in Denji's life and offers him work, although she often treats him as her own pet.
Denji is assigned to the team of a guy named Aki, whose entire family was killed by Devils in front of his eyes. As expected, Aki has no sympathy for the Devils, while Denji, having been friends with Pochita, wants to decide these things for himself. Soon after, fans are also introduced to Power, who is a Blood Fiend, meaning her body was taken over by a Devil as a means to survive. Just like Denji, Power is assigned to Aki's squad and they eventually grow closer. Together, Denji, Power, and Aki form a great team and act almost like a family. While they're not off the greatest of starts, understandably, given Aki's background, they get much closer with time, which is nothing but beautiful to see.
Of course, they're not the only main characters in the story of Chainsaw Man and Tatsuki Fujimoto has done more than well to write some other compelling characters which fans should be quite excited to see in the anime. Other than the ones mentioned above, there are also quite a few characters who are beloved to the manga readers, such as Himeno, Kobeni, Kishibe, among several others. Evidently, Chainsaw Man has quite a diverse cast with some really amazing characters.
Chainsaw Man Release Date
A trailer for Chainsaw Man was released back in 2021 and featured some incredible animation. Regrettably, MAPPA have a history of overworking their employees and not giving them enough time to rest, which, in turn, affects the production of the anime as well. Hopefully, this time around the staff is allowed more time to work on Chainsaw Man, ensuring a flexible schedule and the highest production quality. If the trailer is anything to go by, Chainsaw Man is in safe hands. So far, fans don't know when exactly Chainsaw Man will release, however, it is definitely slated for a 2022 release, which is exciting enough.
Hopefully, fans will find more about Chainsaw Man's anime adaptation as we move closer to Spring. The expectations for the Chainsaw Man anime are high, and plenty of anime and manga fans can't wait to see Tatsuki Fujimoto's vision be brought to the screen later this year.
