Chainsaw Man is full of odd, violent, and crazy companions and side characters. Most of them come from the Public Safety Divison where Denji, the protagonist works, only some of them are human, and none of them should be looked over in the supernatural slasher franchise. The Chainsaw Man franchise is about Denji, a homeless vulgar teenager making a living by killing devils. After a near-death experience, Denji is saved by his own pet devil, who fuses with him and grants Denji his chainsaw-inspired powers. These powers cause the Public Safety Division to notice him and hire him on the premise that if he doesn't follow orders or lets his new devil side take over, he will be exterminated.

When it comes to Chainsaw Man, there are a lot of side characters to cover. There is no confirmation how many will be featured in the first season of the anime, but here are nine to look out for when the anime premiers. The following article will be free of major spoilers.

Makima's Special Squad

Chainsaw Man - Power

In the manga, Denji is assigned to a special task force within the Public Safety Department, an experimental group of Devil Hunters, some of which are part-devil. Denji, the protagonist, is one of the half-devil members. Not all of the special squad gets along with each other, but they are incredibly successful as a Devil Hunter squad.

One of these members is Power, pictured above. She is not only on Makima's special squad, but is also assigned to be his roommate as they were both previously homeless. She is rude, aggressive, and sometimes violent. She's a fiend, or a devil that has taken over a human's corpse. The author of the manga has stated her character is inspired by both Walter Sobchak from The Big Lebowski and Cartman from South Park.

Another member of this squad is Aki Hayakawa, the complete opposite of Power. He is stoic, well-mannered, and mature. He is described as the most normal member of the squad in the manga, and hides his true emotions behind his normal, level-headed personality, which he sees as soft and vulnerable.

Himeno and Angel are two members who are specifically partnered with Aki within the squad, further proving Aki's leadership skills. Himeno had trained Aki herself, meanwhile, Angel is a lazy devil who oddly has no animosity towards humans. And finally, Kobeni Higashiyama is the newest recruit to the team. She is mainly known for her cowardly nature, however, sometimes she takes drastic measures when she is pushed past this point and showcases her talent and agility. She also has two moles on her face, a feature she shares with a character from Fire Punch, another manga by the same author as Chainsaw Man.

Other Supporting Characters

Chainsaw Man - Makima

The Public Safety Devil Hunters, also known as the Public Safety Division, are a government organization that hunts devils in Japan. This is the very organization that employs and houses Denji. Makima herself is a high-ranking Public Safety Devil Hunter, and the supervisor of the squad Denji belongs to. She is incredibly strong and possesses an incredible sense of smell, along with unconventional leadership skills she uses to manage her experimental squad of misfits.

Pochita is a chainsaw devil. He lived indebted to Denji during the beginning of the story, when they were both homeless and in debt to the yakuza, and repaid said debt by becoming Denji's heart to bring him back from the dead. Although erratic and violent, it is revealed later in the series that Pochita always wished to be hugged, but was too big to do so in his previous form.

And finally, there is Reze. She is a teenage girl around Denji's age who works at a café. She develops feelings for Denji quickly after meeting initially. She is known for blushing often, especially around Denji. She also shows mild irritation at her boss at the café but is otherwise positive and upbeat.
