Chained Echoes Update 1.05 is rolling out to all platforms now, and it addresses one of the game's biggest issues. Chained Echoes was one of the last new game releases of 2022, but it was also one of the most critically-acclaimed games of last year as well. Chained Echoes earned near-universal acclaim at the time of its release, with many hailing it as one of the best turn-based RPGs in years.

For those unfamiliar with the game, Chained Echoes takes inspiration from SNES-era JRPGs, but mixes in modern conveniences, quality-of-life features, and mature storytelling to create an especially engaging RPG experience. While Chained Echoes reviews have been wildly positive since the game's launch, it's not without its issues, with one particularly nasty game-breaking bug keeping many players from progressing.

Going into details about the Chained Echoes game-breaking bug would mean venturing into spoiler territory, but the gist of it is that it would trap players on a waterfall screen, making it impossible for them to continue the game. Those with fairly recent save files were able to reload an old save and continue that way, but others were out of luck and were faced with starting over from scratch or waiting for a patch. Luckily, Chained Echoes Update 1.05 addresses the waterfall bug, making it so players can continue playing like normal. If players load their save and still find themselves trapped at the waterfall even after downloading the update, moving their character around should rectify the issue, according to messages in the game's official Discord channel.

Chained Echoes Update 1.05 fixes a variety of other issues that have been plaguing the critically-acclaimed RPG, including an issue that was targeting PlayStation gamers specifically. There was a bug impacting the PS4 version of Chained Echoes that caused slowdown issues after players managed to earn the Platinum trophy. After downloading this update, completionists playing Chained Echoes on PS4 should find that the issue has been resolved.

Unfortunately, the Xbox version of Chained Echoes, available to play through an Xbox Game Pass subscription, has yet to receive the update as of the time of this writing on January 3. Hopefully, Chained Echoes players on Xbox don't have to wait too much longer to download the update, especially if they are one of the individuals that have found themselves trapped at the waterfall screen. In the meantime, those who have yet to play Chained Echoes for themselves should feel safe to do so without having to worry about running into quite as many bugs and technical problems.

Chained Echoes is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
