Along with its unique turn-based combat system, Chained Echoes has a rather extensive shopping mechanism. Players can buy, sell, or deal with Merchants to earn Arcs or acquire new items.

However, the most lucrative part of this system, the Deals section, unlocks later in the game and might confuse beginner players in Chained Echoes. This guide, therefore, aims to simplify deals and reveal the nitty-gritty of shopping in Valandis.

What Are Deals?

Deals are optional objectives that players complete by selling specific loots to a Merchant. Each Deal has a “Required Materials” section, showing what items are needed to fulfill it. A green checkmark next to the items indicates a successful sale and a gray checkmark reveals insufficient loot.

Players should think of Deals as mystery boxes with discounts. The Merchants need the items, and the players need the box, so the two parties make a pact and exchange.

How to Unlock Deals for Merchants

During the Lovely Banquet mission, players should head to the center of Farnsport, where there’s a big market. Once there, they'll need to locate the Ultimate Dealer and talk to him. He’s a half-buried fish in the middle. After the dialogue, they can sell him the Otterhorse Perch and then buy the first Deal to unlock the option.

Since the initial Deal is a demo, it’s completely free. However, the subsequent contracts will require players to pay. As one might expect, the better the prize, the higher the price. Once the Ultimate Dealer unlocks the Deals option, players can access it from all other Merchant spots, so there’s no need to revisit Farnsport every time.

How to Complete a Deal and Get New Ones

In order to complete a deal, players simply need to sell the Required Materials to a Merchant. Every sale automatically unlocks new Deals and allows players to purchase the finished ones.

Like with new unlockable skills, players get notified whenever fresh Deals become available. They earn additional items, weapons, and armor for completing them and it’s one of the best ways to level up early.

Does Each Merchant Have Different Deals?

The list of Deals is shared between all the Merchants and the items they buy are collectively counted toward players’ progress. That means the vending is carried over from one dealer to another.

If players sell one of the three required items to Merchant #1, they can sell the other two required items to Merchant #2 and still be able to purchase the Deal.
