CD Projekt RED may have just teased The Witcher 4 in its new earnings report. In the report, the company also confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is selling well more than four years after its release and that Cyberpunk 2077 pre-orders have been strong too.

CD Projekt, the parent company of developer CD Projekt RED, says that the company will be moving to a "dual-franchise model" with its two series, The Witcher and Cyberpunk. This will be "supported by several independent product lines also permits optimization of manufacturing and financial activities, mitigates important risk factors and makes it easier for Company employees to seek professional fulfillment," it explains. There's a huge amount of industry jargon there, but what the company is saying is that Cyberpunk and The Witcher will be a big part of what CD Projekt RED does next.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's Switch release date is scheduled for later this year, but CD Projekt RED may have ideas for The Witcher 4 after that. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an incredibly popular game and more people have purchased the game in the first half of 2019 than they did in 2018, so any new release could potentially make a huge amount of money too. CD Projekt RED also expects the talk around Cyberpunk 2077 to help drive sales of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and other games in the developer's catalog, it said in the earnings briefing.

It seems unlikely that CD Projekt RED is developing The Witcher 4 now and that it has done anything besides the planning and ideas stage. Most of the developer's resources will be put into Cyberpunk 2077. Once Cyberpunk 2077 launches, the developer is also expected to move onto that game's online multiplayer gameplay, but that's only if it deems that pursuit worthwhile.

However, many fans will be glad to hear about The Witcher 4, whenever it's announced. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is seen by some as one of the best RPGs and it has a huge community of cosplayers, modders, and other content creators. So while CD Projekt RED isn't making an official announcement of The Witcher 4 now, the very fact that the company would like to keep the series going suggests that there's potential for it.

The Witcher 3 is available now on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One X, with a Switch release slated for October 15th.
