Just in time for Halloween, Konami is rereleasing two of the best games in the Castlevania series, packaged together in one title: Castlevania: Requiem. In preparation for this release, the company has added story summaries for both Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood (both games included in the compilation), as well as a timeline of every Castlevania game that has ever existed to its official website.

Both Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night are beloved entries in the franchise, but they share more than just the adoration of fans. Their stories also tie very closely together. Symphony of the Night picks up four years after Rondo of Blood, and even begins by having players relive the final moments of the prior game as a refresher. Interestingly, while they share a narrative, both games are very different in terms of gameplay. Rondo is a classic side-scrolling Castlevania and Symphony is anything but. Breaking with tradition, it pioneered the Metroidvania style that gamers know and love today.

The other element on the site, the Castlevania timeline, gives a brief look at every game in the series, starting with the original on the NES. Anyone hoping for an in-depth analysis of how each title fits into the overall story will need to look elsewhere. The timeline is little more than a list of release dates and links to where each title can be purchased today.

Those anticipating the compilation will not have to wait long, as it is set to release, appropriately, shortly before Halloween. As for bells and whistles, Castlevania: Requiem will be updated to include 4K/1080 upscaling, multiple high resolution backgrounds, rendering options, and full Trophy support. There will also be some added Dualshock 4 features, such as vibration and a chime that plays when picking up an item.

In other Castlevania news, the original vampire slayer, Simon Belmont, is joining the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster. For many years, Simon has been one of the most requested characters by fans. Now, he has been confirmed as a playable fighter, but he's bringing along a ton of Castlevania content with him.

Ritcher Belmont will be playable as an echo fighter, and Alucard, protagonist of Symphony of the Night, will appear as an Assist Trophy. Dracula's Castle is getting its own stage, where various bosses from the Castlevania series will spawn throughout matches to challenge fighters. Dracula himself will also make the occasional, rare appearance.

Castlevania: Requiem will release on October 26 for PS4.
