Kojima Productions has outdone itself with what has to be one of the longest trailers I've ever seen for a game. From the Tokyo Game Show we have a new trailer for the upcoming Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. You might want to grab a bag of popcorn before sitting down and watching this seven and a half minute drama.

The trailer shows us why Gabriel, our new whip wielding hero, is motivated to travel into the legendary Castlevania and take down the dark lord himself. Apparently his wife, Marie, was killed by the forces of Dracula and it's up to Gabriel to take him out in the name of love.

We get to see many of Lords of Shadow's supporting cast including a young girl named Claudia who commands a giant suit of armor, and someone who appears to be another warrior that aids Gabriel in his quest. Along with these new characters we also get to see a couple of mounts: a large talking eagle and a white horse, both with glowing runic symbols on their bodies. There are no details on if there will be ingame segments where you get to control these creatures, but given the epic scale of the trailer it's a safe bet you'll get to take these beasts for a ride.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is being developed by MercurySteam and Kojima Productions, and judging by the trailer Kojima definitely had his hands in this. The game looks like it's story heavy, and possibly cutscene heavy, similar to another title from Hideo Kojima. I've been a fan of Castlevania since Symphony of the Night, and up until this point I was just looking at this game as a Devil May Cry clone, however after watching this I can't wait to see the final product.

Ranters are you ready to take on the Lord of Shadow?

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is due out on October 5 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
