The Behemoth has announced the Switch release date of Castle Crashers Remastered, and the game is releasing in the middle of an already packed September. Castle Crashers Remastered released a few years ago on the PC and Xbox One, but the brawler is just now making its way to the Switch. A PS4 version of the game is also almost ready, but The Behemoth doesn't have a release date quite yet.

Fans of Castle Crashers that want to play the game on the go won't have to wait too much longer for the Switch version of Castle Crashers Remastered. The brawler will release on September 17, which is the middle of an already busy month for games. With games like Borderlands 3 releasing just days beforehand, The Behemoth will have their competition cut out for them. However, Castle Crashers has the advantage of being a game that's easy to pick up and play with friends, which may help the title stand out among the fall crowd.

The Switch version of Castle Crashers Remastered offers sharp HD graphics at 60 fps, so players can really get a nice look at what they're hacking and slashing into. Additionally, the Switch version offers single Joy-Con support, making it even easier to get up to four players together for co-op. Castle Crashers Remastered also has a new game mode called Back Off Barbarian to offer veteran players something new to enjoy.

One question remains, though. Why did it take so long for Castle Crashers Remastered to leave the Xbox One and come to consoles? The Behemoth states they ran across a number of development issues with the Nintendo Switch and PS4 versions of the game, especially since the developer stuck with the PC and Microsoft consoles for a long time. The PS4 version of the game is still in the final stages of its submission process, and the company hopes to announce its release date soon.

Regardless of how long it took to get here, it's hard to complain about a portable version of a well-known multiplayer indie title. Castle Crashers Remastered is one of many Switch games to look forward to in the coming months, so there's no doubt console owners will have plenty to look forward to this holiday season.

Castle Crashers Remastered is available on PC and Xbox One, with the Switch version coming on September 17. The PS4 release date is yet to be announced.
