It's been a long wait for Playstation 3 users, Castle Crashers has been coming for almost a year now, and tasty tidbits of bonuses and information have been constantly been creeping onto the web. With the additions of both a Volleyball Minigame and Team Arena, the only thing missing was... well, the game itself.

In a much celebrated announcement, Dan Paladin himself revealed the wait is but a mere two weeks away:

"I’m here today to present you with the gift of a release date. After many months of certification we’ve finally secured an actual day for USA, Canada, and Mexico for Castle Crashers on the PlayStation Network. This gift is Tuesday, August 31st!!!!"

You know he's serious when he's using four - count 'em - four exclamation marks. Though no word has been yet revealed for our European friends, we can imagine that their release date will be within a week or two ours, pending the certification process that slowed down the game's arrival in the first place.

Those of you who haven't yet tasted some Castle Crashers gameplay need not worry, the game has been on Xbox Live for more than a year and is a fan-favorite. With insanely fun co-op, tons of replayability, and the insane humor of The Behemoth, you're virtually guaranteed a fun ride from the moment you press the start button.

"We’ve been working on Castle Crashers for PSN for about a year and a half. In that time I’ve had the fortune of meeting everyone at tradeshows and lots of people will ask me, “C’mon what is taking so long?”. I have to say that we’ve felt the same way — our whole team’s goal is to make you all happy so we want to share it right now!! We’re super antsy. But like all of our games we can never rush anything as it’s necessary to make sure that every little piece is airtight. and fun!"

Slow and steady wins the race - I'm sure as gamers we can all agree we'd rather see developers take their time and get rid of bugs, rather than be riddled with problems by rushing a release date. Regardless, Castle Crashers will officially be invading your Playstation 3s come August 31st of this year, for a suspected price of $15. If you need to go get a points card, make sure you're ready to hop in the action as soon as you can, this is a game you can't afford to miss.

What do you think, Ranters? Are you excited for Castle Crashers on the PS3? What do you think about the bonus features?
