Carve Snowboarding has just been announced for virtual reality. At first blush, it may look a lot like a spiritual successor to the beloved 1080 Snowboarding game, and that may be because it is being developed by Chuhai Labs, which consists of team members who worked on 1080.

Snowboarding games are part of a genre that once was very popular, with games like the aforementioned 1080 Snowboarding and SSX once being on top of sales charts. And as skateboarding games seem to be making a return recently, it is nice to see snowboarding games come back too with Carve Snowboarding on VR; this announcement trailer showcases what players can expect.

The Carve Snowboarding trailer itself is short and sweet, but there is quite a lot to uncover within the relatively small period. The gameplay itself is described as arcade in nature, but the style does not look to be overly dramatic or over-the-top. Players will be able to customize runs, unlock boards, gloves, over 60 songs, and more. Players can also choose various modes like Time Attack or Freestyle and there is even a pet the dog feature. Carve Snowboarding will be available this summer on Oculus Quest--adding to the list of summer VR games that have recently been announced.

The reveal of Carve Snowboarding was just made today, so the announcement itself is a bit of a surprise, but very exciting. The idea of shredding the cold mountains in a VR snowboarding game in the hot summer may be a bit oxymoronic, but it could be the perfect way to relax and cool off during the hot summer days.

Carve Snowboarding is set to release Summer 2021 for Oculus Quest.
