Winner! Congrats to Joseph Martin for winning our Xbox 360/Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL Giveaway! Prizes are on their way in two separate shipments.

What kid hasn't dreamed about pitting two of his or her favorite cartoon characters against one another in a no-holds-barred battle to the end? Sure, the characters may change through the years, but the dream remains the same. In that very spirit, Crave Games and Papaya Studio present Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL, the game that finally answers the question: if Captain Planet had to face off against the Powerpuff Girls, who would prevail? (Answer: Captain Planet. But now there is proof).

Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL, a super-sized upgrade of last Summer's Punch Time Explosion DS game, hits Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii on November 15th. Eight of the game's 26 characters are brand-new to the XL edition, and Game Rant has the honor of revealing one of the new combatants: Kevin E. Levin of Ben 10 fame. See Kevin in action in Game Rant's exclusive Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL trailer below.

Watching the video, it's clear that the designers at Papaya Studio drew some inspiration from Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. series -- and that's a good thing. It's been an awfully long time since Super Smash Bros. Brawl took the fight to Nintendo's Wii, and there is no telling how long it will be until Super Smash Bros. Universe (or whatever it ends up being called) lands on the Wii U and 3DS, to say nothing of Sony's Smash Bros. clone.

Players who jump into Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL will find no shortage of things to do, places to do them, or characters to do them with. The game's 26 fighters include characters from 11 of Cartoon Network's most popular series, including Samurai Jack, Johnny Bravo, and Dexter’s Laboratory, in addition to the previously mentioned Ben 10, Powerpuff Girls, and Captain Planet. Players will have 26 stages (including five that are brand-new to XL) and a number of game modes to choose from: Arcade, Training, Defeat the Clones (try to beat up more drones than your friend), and a co-op campaign for up to four players.

Punch Time Explosion XL also features an Unlock Shop, where players can purchase the expected new characters, costumes, and arenas, in addition to clips from the very programs celebrated by the game. It's like having your very own Cartoon Network video library, in handy game form.
