Sherlock Holmes and The New Pope actor Jude Law is in talks to play Captain Hook in a new live-action Peter Pan movie, sources have revealed. This would be another surprise career turn from the actor who has played a religious leader, a holiday heartthrob, and was once considered for the role of Superman in the Batman v Superman movie.

Sources speaking to Variety have said that Law is set to play Peter Pan villain Captain Hook in Peter Pan & Wendy, Disney's newest take on the popular children's storybook. Talks are ongoing, but if cast, Law would be acting alongside Wendy actress Ever Anderson (who is also the daughter of Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich) and Peter Pan actor Alexander Molony.

Peter Pan & Wendy would also be the eighth Disney vehicle to cast Law. Law featured in The Aviator, a movie Disney distributed under its Miramax Films banner and in The Talented Mr. Ripley, which was also distributed by Miramax. Last year, Law featured in the Marvel superhero movie, Captain Marvel.

Disney is reportedly planning to premiere Peter Pan & Wendy at the box office and not on its Disney+ streaming service. This may not be a surprise given the success that the company has had with other live-action movies like 2019 movie Aladdin which made more than $1 billion at the global box office.
