Capcom has projected that its sales for the fiscal year will break the developer's all-time sales record, expecting to surpass the 40 million units mark. The 2022 fiscal year has been a big one for Capcom with several high-profile releases already and more on the way. Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak debuted as the first major expansion for the newest Monster Hunter game and the highly-anticipated Resident Evil 4 remake is set to debut just before the fiscal year ends. Capcom's success has the developer projecting major milestones by the end of March.

The nine months since Capcom's fiscal year began in March saw the release of two major titles as a part of the developer's 2022 lineup. The previously-mentioned Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak saw new areas, monsters, and a new story added to the massively successful Monster Hunter game. Capcom would also release the Winters Expansion for Resident Evil Village, adding a new story as well as a third-person camera mode for the newest Resident Evil. Now, Capcom is expecting to break a huge record for the company by the end of March.

A new batch of financial results from Capcom shows the massive success of the developer over the last nine months of 2022. Capcom reported selling a staggering 29.1 million games during the stretch from April 2022 to December 2022, reportedly expecting to see that number increase to over 40 million by the end of March. With the Resident Evil 4 remake set to launch just a week before the end of Capcom's fiscal year, a 40 million total would set a new record for the developer. Capcom also reportedly expects 90% of those sales to come from digital storefronts.

The sales records come as Capcom reported strong showings from many of its legacy titles throughout 2022 along with new releases. Monster Hunter Rise continued its massive success, selling 2.75 million copies during a fiscal year that saw the game brought to PlayStation and Xbox consoles earlier this month. Recent Resident Evil remakes have continued to perform strongly as well, with both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 selling over 1 million copies. Even Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Street Fighter 5 put up respectable numbers with 750,000 copies.

With only two months remaining until the end of Capcom's fiscal year, the developer is expecting strong performance from both recent and upcoming games. Capcom is clearly anticipating big numbers from Resident Evil 4 with the projected 40 million marker likely seeing a major boost from the remake's release. Beyond the end of Capcom's fiscal year, the developer also has several major games on the horizon including the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection and Street Fighter 6. Capcom saw a strong showing from its games in 2022 and will look for a repeat performance in 2023.
