When Resident Evil 2 Remake, was released to both player and critical acclaim earlier this year, fans of the long-standing survival horror franchise eagerly anticipated Capcom's next move. While Capcom has remained silent on the future of Resident Evil after RE2 Remake, it appears that the studio is already hard at work in developing the next entry in the franchise.

As of the moment, Capcom still hasn't officially confirmed that a new Resident Evil game is in active development. However, the website Biohaze revealed that Capcom's Resident Evil Ambassador program in Japan has sent out emails to all its members, recruiting testers for a game that is currently in development. The testing of the game is believed to be happening on September 8 or 9, at an undisclosed location in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Testers will be chosen from the existing roster of Resident Evil Ambassadors in Japan, and vast knowledge of the series is required to get in.

Although the letter did not specifically say that the game in development is a Resident Evil title, it would be unlikely for Capcom to use Resident Evil ambassadors to test a game that is not Resident Evil. To the uninitiated, Capcom's Resident Evil Ambassadors is an official group for fans of the franchise from all over the globe. Members of the group, who are called ambassadors, will receive special information about the series and join campaigns and events related to the franchise. Unfortunately, details regarding the game in-development are still unknown, but leaks have already surfaced before that Capcom is already developing a new Resident Evil game.

If reports are true, and Capcom is indeed developing a new Resident Evil game, it is most likely that it would be a choice between Resident Evil 8 or Resident Evil 3 Remake. In the past, Capcom already revealed that it is willing to remake the third game in the Resident Evil franchise if fans would ask for it. Of course, given the successful release of Resident Evil 2 Remake, which somehow fixed the franchise's troubled reputation, it is likely that Capcom is finally working on RE3 remake after all.

Meanwhile, it appears that Capcom is trying to keep Resident Evil fans busy while waiting for the next entry in the franchise. At E3 2019, Capcom revealed that Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6, will be on its way to the Nintendo Switch. This isn't the first time that a Resident Evil game was released on Nintendo's hybrid console given that both Resident Evil Revelations 1 & 2 are already available on the Switch.
