Monster Hunter Rise got a new expansion pack called Sunbreak, and to celebrate Japan is doing what it does best - opening a concept cafe. At the Capcom Cafe in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, and Koshigaya, Saitama, a new limited Monster Hunter menu available.

The cafe just opened at the end of August and will run through October. Monster Hunter Rise was initially released in March 2021, and the expansion Sunbreak just came out at the end of June 2022. Monster Hunter is one of the most popular video game series in Japan, and easily one of Capcom’s most notable (and profitable) titles. Even though it’s already been out for two months, that doesn’t stop fans from being excited by a new Sunbreak-themed menu at the Capcom Cafe.

While the Capcom Cafe always features some menu items based on Monster Hunter, it also has plenty of drinks and foods from Capcom’s other properties as well. This new menu is special because it’s all Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak themed. There are seven special menu items in all, with main dishes, desserts, and drinks all celebrating the latest expansion pack.

First up are the main dishes. The savory option is black pasta with striking red tomato sauce meant to represent the Elder Dragon Malzeno. It even has an edible picture of the dragon on top. The second is a sweeter dish perfect for the hot summer, shaved ice flavored like the famous Japanese soda ramune. It’s based on the wyvern Lunagaron, who is new to Sunbreak and has ice powers. Drinks are one of the highlights of Japanese concept cafes, and the Monster Hunter menu has four very different ones. You can pair a non-alcoholic Malzeno cocktail with your pasta, also inspired by the dragon’s coloration.

Next up is a frozen matcha drink themed after the mentor character Master Utushi with his likeness on the top and a mini stick of dango. Then there’s hot chocolate with a motif of the wolf Otomo Garuku and a bone-shaped cookie. And finally, the last drink is frozen yogurt based on the Sunbreak quest-giver Chichae with colors that match her outfit. The dish that is really getting Monster Hunter fans excited online is the plate of rabbit dumplings. These were a new item added to Monster Hunter Rise that can be eaten in the game to boost certain skills. At the cafe, the dumplings come in four different flavors. For an extra ¥3,300 (around $20USD) you can also buy a special themed plate and teacup set as well to take home.

For fans who want to try many things, there are a few sets available that include at least one food and one drink for a cheaper price than ordering everything separately. Plus, a free coaster comes with any drink ordered featuring one of 10 random characters from the game, and a placemat for every main dish. For every ¥3000 spent, a free postcard will also be given from 19 different designs (though it will also be random).

With how well-themed so many menu items are, it wouldn’t be hard for Monster Hunter fans to spend easily at least that much money. The Capcom Cafe is always a fun stop for gamers and otaku in Tokyo, but for the next two months it’s extra fun for Monster Hunter fans. Reservations are already open for both locations and can be made online through the cafe’s website. With how popular Monster Hunter is in Japan, spots will likely fill up quickly, so if you are able to go, reserve your spot soon.
