Fortnite's subscription service, Fortnite Crew, has been around for some time now. While the service has made attempts to sweeten up and expand its various offerings, some players may have come to see it as an unnecessary expense, and are looking to cancel it.

First introduced at the beginning of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5, Fortnite Crew is a paid monthly subscription service that offers exclusive sets of cosmetics and the current season's Battle Pass. Additionally, the $12 a month service gives players 1,000 V-Bucks each month to spend on other cosmetics from the in-game item shop. Players just got their first look at the upcoming Crew Pack for July, which features an MCU-inspired version of Loki, the God of Mischief.

How to Cancel Fortnite Crew Subscription

Players who've come to deem Fortnite Crew as not being worth the money can fairly easily unsubscribe, although it's important to know which platform the subscription was purchased on, as each one has its own set of specific directions.

PlayStation

Revealed to be responsible for the majority of Fortnite's revenue, PlayStation players need to take these easy steps to cancel their subscription:

  • Navigate to store.playstation.com
  • Sign in to your account for PlayStation Network
  • Click on Subscriptions Management
  • Select Turn Off Auto Renew

Nintendo Switch

One of two platforms that don't include Fortnite's Save the World mode, Switch players must adhere to the following steps:

  • Click the Home button on the Switch
  • Open the eShop
  • Select your account icon in the top right of the screen
  • Select Subscriptions
  • Locate the Fortnite Crew subscription in the list and select "Turn Off Automatic Renewal"
  • Follow the prompts to cancel

Epic/PC

Those looking to cancel Fortnite Crew on PC or Android should follow these directions:

  • Navigate to www.epicgames.com/account
  • Sign in to your Epic Games account
  • Select Subscriptions to the right
  • Select the Cog icon in the top right of the subscription
  • Follow the prompts to cancel

Samsung

Samsung mobile device players can take these steps to cancel their subscription:

  • On your phone, navigate to the Galaxy Store
  • Tap to open the Menu
  • Tap on Subscriptions
  • Select Fortnite from the app list
  • Tap on Cancel

Xbox

While the other platforms' instructions are pretty straightforward, Xbox console subscribers get a little more complicated. Should Fortnite players simply want to stop paying for and receiving new months of Fortnite Crew, simply follow these steps:

  • Navigate to account.microsoft.com/account
  • Sign in to your Microsoft account
  • Select Services & Subscriptions at the top of the page
  • Select Manage next to your subscription listing
  • Select Turn off recurring billing to the right
  • Follow the prompts to turn off recurring billing

Following these specific directions will allow players to keep everything they've received from the service since initially subscribing. However, Xbox also has the option of fully refunding the entire Fortnite Crew subscription. This is done by contacting Microsoft support directly and requesting a full refund of the purchase.

Should it be approved, this option will result in the removal of all Fortnite Crew content from the account, including 1,000 V-Bucks or the items purchased with them, and any monthly Crew Packs. The newly reformatted Battle Pass will remain, although 950 V-Bucks will be pulled from the account, the same amount it costs normally.

Even though Fortnite Crew has offered perks like three free months of Spotify Premium, not all players will have the extra income to spend on in-game cosmetics. Should the service endure, it should be interesting to see how it evolves over time.

Fortnite is free-to-play for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
