Some more high-quality screenshots and new gameplay footage has been shown off for the upcoming The Callisto Protocol, giving yet another glimpse into the terror that awaits players. As one of the most anticipated horror games of the current generation, alongside the remake of its Dead Space spiritual predecessor, fans are waiting to see what's in store for them from Glen Schofield's new team. Suffice it to say, the images and videos that have been released so far have only served to increase the hype.

In fact, developer Striking Distance is already discussing a Callisto Protocol sequel, with CEO Schofield saying that he has some "cool ideas" that could be implemented in a follow-up. As the director and executive producer of the original Dead Space from 2008, horror gamers are looking forward to his latest sci-fi offering, and with this latest title due out on December 2, 2022, there isn't long to wait until fans can get hold of it.

For now, there are enough video clips and screenshots from The Callisto Protocol to whet more than a few appetites while the days and weeks count down. These latest 4K images have been shared by DSO Gaming, while GamesRadar brings another eight minutes of play footage. No doubt those who have already seen clips and teasers will have some idea of what to expect, but it's still fascinating to see the game in action. The footage shows protagonist Jacob Lee, voiced by Josh Duhamel, wandering around the Black Iron prison colony, taking on a series of horrifying monsters in this oppressive environment.

However, it's not been all smiles and excitement lately. There have been reports of crunch culture at the Callisto Protocol studio, with Schofield taking the fall for the controversial work ethic and saying that he "messed up." He goes on to say that future projects will not go down the compulsory overtime route. Crunch culture is highly contested in the industry, pressuring developers to work additional hours in order to meet deadlines during a game's production.
