Microsoft's recent Inside Xbox might have been less successful than the company had hoped, however, it did facilitate the reveal of a number of major new games launching on the Xbox Series X. Several of these have since turned out to be console exclusive to the Xbox brand, with the likes of Scorn and The Medium coming only to the PC and Xbox when they debut in the near future.

Another of the games that made its grand reveal at the event has since also turned out to be an Xbox console exclusive, with Call of the Sea allegedly only coming to PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Confirmed to be released before the end of the year, it seems the announcement of the game's exclusive status has come alongside some new information about the game, including its influences and story.

According to Tatiana Delgado, the game director of Call of the Sea and co-founder of its development studio Out of the Blue, the title "is a story-driven game that lets you take on the role of Norah, a woman who has crossed an ocean in a desperate search of her husband, who has gone missing on an expedition." Supposedly, it will be a "love letter to the [adventure game] genre," and has been heavily inspired by the works of H.P Lovecraft. However, Delgado was quick to point out that "Call of the Sea is not a horror game... But you might say that we are inspired by the way Lovecraft tells some of his stories." With releases like The Sinking City and Call of Cthulhu bringing H.P Lovecraft's worlds to the video game space recently, it's clear Call of the Sea is releasing at a time where there's a demand for more games that utilize the writer's distinct style.

Alongside this description and release information, Delgado also reveals that the game will be available on Game Pass at launch, meaning yet another major title will be hitting the incredibly popular service. With games like Red Dead Redemption 2 recently releasing on Game Pass, it's clear the service is growing into one of the most gamer-friendly subscriptions currently on the market, especially with titles like Call of the Sea making their way there at launch.

Alongside the announcement of Call of the Sea, Microsoft's recent Inside Xbox revealed the existence of a number of exciting third party games. Assassin's Creed Valhalla appeared at the event, while a sci-fi shooter named Bright Memory: Infinite was revealed and a console release of Scorn was announced.

Call of the Sea is in development and scheduled to release in 2020, for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
